Gunner Combat

Now I haven't seen a thread for this, it looks like it gets no love. :(

Well here could go some suggestions for gunner combat in OJP.

Since everyone gets dodge I was wondering if the blaster bolts can be sped up as well as thinned out much like the MB2 ones. They are too fat and too slow. :smash:

Another thing that could be done to spice up gunner combat would be a recoloring of blaster bolts, more notably the DL-44 and the E-11. A deep red, again much like the MB2 ones.

I'm already using a mod that colors all bolts deep red, it looks great.

I modified the gun efx a bit so it looks like all bolts actually come out of the barrel instead of air infront of it too.

Hoping that Ace will take it into the 0.1.0, but I've learned not to hold my breath.

Gunner combat only needs more blasters/gadgets and blaster skills as far as I'm concerned. Dodge is something only Jedi should get as far as I'm concerned.

If all goes well, I'm hoping that Protect will be re-introduced as a buyable Dodge for Jedi.

You're not going to like it....

Dodge is critical to player's survival. Gunners are going to be dieing with almost every single shot.

Jedi without Dodge will be not block saber attacks or bolts.

But, if you guys want to try it, I'm thinking that Dodge should be associated with your Force Seeing rank. That way, Jedi will have to have some level of DP.

You can block saber attacks or blaster bolts just fine without dodge in the ojp_allowBodyDodge 0 setting with the exception of getting a little HP damage. It doesnt take away your dp as far as blocks are concerned, just as far as being in a mishap or being without a saber. We might want to make it so that not parrying a move costs a little more HP too for the sake of making no dodge make more sense gameplay wise.

Also if we do make dodge buyable, I think we should bring back the old kick block as a buyable option as well so your not completely screwed when you get slowbounced and kicked. If its buyable, it won't "overcomplicate" things like some of us feared. It will also settle some of my other original fears about removing kickblock completely. It would also give us another option for the menu.

Oh, so the amount of DP you'd have would be independant of your ability to body dodge? What would DP do for gunners if they don't have body dodges?

Yeah pretty much. Gunners I'm not sure they even need it for the most part. he could just have a blank DP meter if they don't have seeing since they wouldnt need it without a saber or force powers.

Yeah I'd agreed with sushi here. I say allow all jedi with seeing to have DP for normal blocks and deflects, but only jedi with protect 1 have actual dodge. I still like the ideas I posted above with it though as far as adding a buyable kickblock back in and maybe makingnot parrying a hit do more HP damage when you dont have dodge.

I think the E-11 needs a boost in the RoF department as well as lessening in the ammo drain.

If not a higher RoF then atleast a higher DP drain as I was hitting Max today for a good percentage of my shots and he didn't go down in the least. It also sucks when jedi/sith get a T3(MB2) like effect vs. guns.

I have to agree with Chosen, as it stands the E-11 seems basically useless against Jedi. Currently the only real chance for a pure gunner build is explosives (hoping they don't have autopush) and now the Flame Thrower, which works well.

The only problems with the Flame Thrower is that it can be a little powerful in combination with the Rocket Launcher (Can flame during the rocket's cooldown time, but once again this is for Jedi without Autopush), and that it can be powerful in combination with some Force Powers. For example, Lightning and Flame work together well (knockdown then flame, or flame 'til they get close then lightning them so they have to block, and then fly away).

But to get back on track here, I do think the E-11 could use an upgrade in how well it does against Jedi.
