Indiana Jones and the Haunted Castle

Authour’s Note

1935 is the year and the aspiring archaeologist, Henry “Indiana” Jones Junior is on an adventure that adds yet another chapter to the archaeologist’s life. The Haunted Castle is set prior to the events of all three films, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom and Last Crusade and the video game, Emperor’s Tomb. As I’ve already said, the year is set in 1935, the same year in which both the Temple of Doom film and the Emperor’s Tomb game are set. The only character that will make any appearance from any of the films or the game mentioned are Indiana Jones (of course). Like everything to do with Indiana Jones, there will also be the girl, who travels with Indy, during his adventure and possibly another companion, but I’m still deciding on whether I should do this or not. Please note this Fic isn’t canon, since I don’t really know much about Indy’s other adventures, prior to the Emperor’s Tomb, so if anything doesn’t sound right, you’ll know why.

Just to let you all know, I’m not good with other places in the world, so if I have something wrong, you’ll also know why. Another is language, since I may use the German language, Deutsch (German in English). I’m learning the language myself, but I might get things wrong, so once again, you’ll know why. Also the artefact is made up.

So let’s begin, with the Haunted Castle, but first let’s see the Disclaimer.

Disclaimer

I don’t own any recognisable characters from the Indiana Jones series, like Indy himself. Any unrecognisable characters all belong to me. If any Indiana Jones fans write a Fic of their own, they must ask permission from me to use.

Prologue

Rome, 53 A.D.

A dark figure snuck away from a nearby brick wall and ran through the empty city of Rome. The figure managed to avoid two Roman soldiers nearby, who guarded the only exit out of the city. The figure held its cloak as tight as it could, so it wouldn’t rustle as much, which would bring more attention to itself. The Roman soldiers were talking aimlessly and the figure used this to its advantage. It snuck around another corner and arrived at a wooden door. The wooden door was the only entrance to this particular castle that the figure had arrived at. The figure knocked on the door three times, hoping that the Roman soldiers hadn’t heard. There was no reply. The figure was about to knock on the door again, but the figure heard a muffled voice.

“Who is it?” The muffled voice asked.

“Lucius,” The figure replied.

There was silence.

“Enter,” The voice spoke and as the door opened, its hinges could be heard.

As soon as the figure walked inside, the door was shut immediately and locked. The man, who had guarded the door, lit a nearby torch and walked slowly down the thin corridor, Lucius following behind him. He kept his hood up. He didn’t feel like taking his hood down, until he met with the one he had come to see.

Soon, after walking through several corridors, Lucius and the other man arrived at the place where Lucius wanted to be. The owner of the castle resided here, in his office. He never revealed himself to anyone, not even his own servants. His name was Lord Anio. Like Lucius, he wore a black cloak, hiding himself from his servants. He had no family. He never married and his only living relatives had died several years ago. Since his family’s death, Anio had spent the majority of his life inside his castle. Anio was obsessed with any artefact. Since he was very rich, he could afford to send people after the artefacts he wanted, but every single time he sent someone out to get an artefact, they would always fail. Anio was always angry at the fact that he had never owned an artefact. Tonight, however, might be his lucky day. He waved his hand at the man behind Lucius, indicating that Anio wanted the other man to leave him and Lucius alone, so they could get on with business. The man immediately did what he was told and left the room, leaving Lucius alone with Anio.

“Do you have the Box of the Lost Souls?” Anio asked, a tone of impatience in his voice.

Lucius lifted the hood of his cloak down and nodded. As Anio’s eyes opened with excitement as Lucius reached into his pocket and grabbed the small box. Despite it being a small box, it had the power to trap the living souls of the people who were around the box. Lucius held the box and waited for Anio to take if off him. After immediately snatching the box, Anio let his quivering hand slide across the dusty box. Being a person who was obsessed with artefacts, he of all people knew not to open the box.

“I’ve done as you’ve requested, Anio,” Lucius told Anio, “Now I want my money for my services.”

Anio smiled as put the box down on his desk and reached into his pocket. Just as Anio was about to get the money out, the door behind Lucius blew open and several Roman soldiers arrived.

“We’ve heard that you managed to get the Box of the Lost Souls Lord Anio,” One of the soldiers told Anio, “Surrender and we won’t take you into custody for stealing an ancient relic.”

Anio immediately grabbed the box and held it close to his chest. One of the Roman soldiers tried to grab the box of Anio, but Anio ran backwards.

“No!” He snapped, “I’m not surrendering my only artefact to you! I’ll kill all us all first.”

Anio smiled and laughed maliciously as he opened the box. Beams of lightning emitted from the box, taking Anio, Lucius and the Roman soldiers and trapped their souls in the box. Their bodies remained, but their souls were now trapped inside the box. Lord Anio was dead, Lucius was dead and the Roman soldiers that were around the box had been killed by the power of the box. The box managed to close itself and remained lifeless, until the next person who would open the box.

Nicely written, and looking forward to see more. Still, I don't understand what's disclaimer talking about...

It's just saying that I don't own anything that belongs to George Lucas, like Indiana Jones. Hopefully he'll appear in the next Chapter. Thanks for the comments, CSI.
