FungiPlasm
This is the mission where you help Dunari retreat from his casino; I've retried this mission countless times! I'm starting to think its impossible! The best I can do is to send Dunari to an inevitable death from starship attack. I read the walkthrough. Apparently the B-wings are supposed to get the Strike Cruiser while I finish the fighters, but this NEVER happens! The STRKC is still 84% shields at the end of the fight - and only because I also emptied my torpedoes on it! I get all the fighters (which is my part of the job), and all the people are always evacuated, but the ISD destroys Dunari's ship when he flees. I can't wear down an ISD with lasers in 30secs - can I? Please HELP!
Wildstar
The walkthrough on the CRS Morning Star site?
FungiPlasm
The mission guide at: http://www.the-spoiler.com/ACTION/Lucas.arts/x-wing.alliance.1.html (the first I came across)
Wildstar
I'm not sure, but I think this is our TacOp for the mission in question: http://www.crs-morningstar.net/tacop.php?id=153 You're doing what we're suggesting, but apparently, you're supposed to save your torps for a M-FRG that comes later. Just blindfire lasers at the ISD after you've taken out the T/Bs that it launches. Order your wingmen to attack the ISD and work on the shield generators, but don't target the ISD, as it will launch missles at you (the ISD is scripted to enter hyperspace, but keep pressing at it until it does). BTW, this thread properly belongs in "Player Strategy", as that forum is there for questions like this. One more question...are you running the 2.02 patch? FungiPlasm
Sorry about the misplaced thread. I've found the other suggestions as well though - they won't work. I've just had an attempt where not one bomber slips through and at the end of the fight (when Dunari inside "Raw Deal" bites it) the Strike Cruiser is at 100%. The B-wings don't touch it! I get a "mission failed" on my CMD with the voice complementing me on the lives saved. No overpowering of the Imp fighters or flight mastery seems to solve anything; I've never mowed though Imps this fast ever!
Wildstar
I'll ask again...are you running the 2.02 patch?
FungiPlasm
Yip - 2.02 Thanks!
Wildstar
By the "Thanks", did you mean you were finally able to complete the mission?
FungiPlasm
No. I've given up and gone on a DOS game pilgrimage! Playing DOS games in XP is something I can actually do - the smuggler retreat mission leaves me at a loss...
Wildstar
A friend suggests strafing runs on the STRKC, having the B-Ws cover you, as that will help draw fire. Concentrate on the cruiser's weapons and engines.
FungiPlasm
Thank you for the effort Wildstar! I'll try that next - I hope the Bs at least do SOMETHING to allow me a try....
Wildstar
Another thing you can try is to target the B-Ws and give them "Go Ahead" orders (SHIFT + G keys) once the STRKC arrives. If you find that the B-Ws still don't attack it and you still can't complete the mission, this is one you may wish to skip.
