Hi

I was woundering if it is possible to bring the dark jedi from the kotor 1 game to the kotor 2 tsl game. I was thinking of replacing the skin of the sith assissans of the kotor 2 tsl game with the dark jedi of the kotor 1 game. If this is possible can you please let me know.

Also what would i need to change for this to happen.

Thanks for listening n1gamer.

If you are looking to replace all the assassins with the dark jedi, and are not concerned with changing their weapons, probably an easier solution is to just alter the appearance.2da entries.

If interested, I can explain that in further detail.

OK, it has been a little while since I looked at this, but this more or less how it works. To start get the kotor tool.

To change the appearance of any character into any other character for all instances, you can alter the appropriate entries in appearance.2da. Basically, appearance.2da contains all the appearance data (duh) for every character in the game. Each character has an entry that controls what models and textures they use for various gear if necessary. To give a character the appearance of another character, you modify the entry to indicate that other character's model/texture is to be used. Make sense?

Luckily for us the model and textures for the Dark Jedi in K1 are included in K2. This is where my memory gets a little hazy in terms of what specific entries need to be altered. But it goes something like this...

Entry 379 should be the one for the original K1 Dark Jedi. The Sith Assassins I believe are from 525 to 530. It might even include 531-536. Not sure. In any event, will copy the values from the line at 379 into the sith assassin lines (although the important stuff is the race, racetex, modela, and texta, but I usually just copy the whole thing). Now when the game looks up the Sith assassin appearances, it will find the Dark Jedi appearance.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes. Hope that helps. :)

Hi guys trying this out.. in my 2da in line 379 it shows as dark_jedi_master and lines 525-536 theysomething like this either dark_jedi_female or dark_jedi_male is this normal.. cause i thought they should be like sith_assasins ?

Yes, that is normal.

The only entry I could find in my unmodified copy that actually defines a Sith Assassin is #459

459	Sith_Assassin_01	****	N_SithAssn	1.813	3.66	1.813	3.66	3.96	****	B	95	****	N_SithAssn	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	DEFAULT	S	****	1	NORM	50	5.4	0.25	0.35	0.4	****	1	l	0	20	1	1	****	****	1	3	****	****	****	****	9	1	0	0	30	15	****	1	1.4	0	2	****	****	****	****	****	****	****	****

Now, it's been a long time since I messed around in K2 (too busy with K1 right now), and given what Prime had said above, it's possible that the assassins in question are actually "Dark Jedi", or they may only be the line I just referenced. I'm not really sure where the game places each of these characters, but perhaps someone else will know.

What you could do would be to make a backup of your appearance.2da, then copy the old K1 Dark Jedi line (#379) and paste it over the Sith Assassin line (#459). If that replaces everyone you wanted with the new model, great. If not, you can try replacing some/all of the Dark Jedi lines (#525 - #536) as well, though if you do replace all of them, I would think that could get a little boring as almost every Dark Jedi in the game will all look like the old K1 version.

WoW thank you kitty for your very quick reply, and i must say you almost read my mind on this matter as i didnt want to have to change all the sith assasins appearances but just some :) one thing though, this might be a really noob question, sith_assassin_01 is that not the obese bounty hunters working for the exchange .. and the ones in lines (#525-#536) are the sith working for darth sion and darth nihilus?

Honestly Arc, I'm not sure. It's been a long time since I messed around in K2. Like I said.. very busy deep in modding/playing K1 again right now. lol

If you either have some saves where you can find the characters in question though, or perhaps even by using warp cheats, you could just play around and make a change or two in the 2da file, check it out, then repeat as needed.

I'm sure there are others who remember a lot better just which characters show up where, but sadly, my old brain just can't recall.

I'll find out soon enough, since I plan on playing/modding the crap out of K2 when I get done messing with K1, but knowing me, that could be a while, and I doubt you wanna wait quite that long. xD

xD yes i atually just started taking intrest in k2 again as i havent played the game in over 7 years.

Just finished installing the mods i wanted but one thing that bugged me in k2 was so many of the sith looked like sith assasins instead of having more of them looking like dark jedi.

anyways thanks for your advice, much appreatiated!

Oh and good luck on your modding k1 kitty :) also really great game!

Okay wait so i have been looking through some more threads, and learnt that on line #19 and #20 in the k2 appearance.2da file is that there is a male and female dark jedi.

So what i was hoping is if someone could help me out?

This is the idea: i want to change all of Darth Sion's sith assasins lines #528 into dark jedi but i dont just want male dark jedi i also want female dark jedi, now lines #379 is the dark_jedi_master appearance from k1.. but is this appearnce also dark jedi females.. or is it just dark jedi males?

Im sorry if this may be confusing :V i can put some links in to the other threads i viewed to help give a better idea :)

Could someone please help ?
