mark2000 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I don't know if anyone has already noticed it yet but using the Dooku Saber will have a bad effect on your Parrying abilities. Try it yourself and you'll notice that the amount of succesful parries you can usually do will mostly be cut by less than a half or even more. I'm not sure why but it's probably because of the bent blade. Anyway, if your dueling style is heavily dependent on Parry-blocking, I really suggest that you should stay away from this hilt.
razorace Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 The blade must be off balance or something. Weird.
Maxstate Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 The blade must be off balance or something. Weird. The blade would come out of THE SIDE of a regular hilt since Dooku's hilt is curved:
Sazabi Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 if your dueling style is heavily dependent on Parry-blocking and if my still is random swing spam does that count too? lol hmmm seriously most of curved sabers caused problems in other mods like mb2 too. maybe not that big problem , but the fact that saber looks different whatever you do is enough for others to get confused etc. thats definitely not a good thing. pretty lame if you ask me.
razorace Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 The blade would come out of THE SIDE of a regular hilt since Dooku's hilt is curved: It shouldn't make a difference if the hilt was made properly. IE, the player should still have the same blade orientation no matter how screwy their hilt is since a saber user would still hold their blade in the same way.

The user holds it near the start of the hilt, so it really does curve dude.
Maxstate Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Aww it's okay, just don't use the hilt and you're fine
mark2000 Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 and if my still is random swing spam does that count too? if that's the case then you're gonna have a helluva great time using it. The user holds it near the start of the hilt, so it really does curve dude. if it was possible for hilt modelers to code the thing so that it'll point at the same direction as normal blades would then maybe the problem will get fixed.
bjusterbaarlik Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Well, as far as I know, there are two versions of Dooku's hilt available. The one you describe indeed has the blade coming out at the side of the hilt, because of the curve. There is another one, which I am looking for right now between my dozens of JKA files, which actually has the blade coming out properly just like a normal saber would. I will see if I have that file somewhere and I will post it here when I find it. EDIT: I have uploaded the file to filefront, you can get it here.
Maxstate Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 It's not really all that important. If it annoys you just remove the dooku hilt so you see a Stinger hilt, that should fix this issue enough for it not to cause any issues with dueling.
TheShaman Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Watch out with that backup stinger hilt, I often used that bug in MB2, when using a saber you don't have, you have a SHORTER stinger, not a normal one, which can be confusing. No idea why.
Maxstate Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Because stingers have saberLength 38 and all other sabers have 40 I think.
