subspark
Somewhere, on the web lies a Monkey Island 1 Flash Remake. Ever since Adobe bought out Macromedia, Flash has come lightyears in interactivity and custom scripting. So far 3 SCUMM game engines have been created using flash. 2 of which are actually editors. However, based on this reference: http://www.worldofmi.com/index.php?action=newsarchive&year=2002 The Monkey Island 1 Chapter One Flash Remake has been completed however it has been wiped off the face of the internet. Old Broken Link: http://www.geodogs.co.uk/flash# If anyone affiliated with the MI1 Flash Project knows what happened we would all LOVE to know. As for picking up where the project left off, could somebody please write a decent flash based scumm engine so that we can create vector scumm games like: http://theexchangestudent.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogsection&id=4&Itemid=27 or http://lassie.gmacwill.com/lower.php?section=games&page=index Asside from the obvious perks of having a vector based SCUMM Engine, Flash is an industry standard interactive platform. Games such as those listed in the above websites can be played on Mobile Phones, iPods, Nintendo DS, PSP. All sorts of mediums can benefit from a Flash based SCUMM Engine/Editor and games can be played full screen, online and can be updated by the developers at anytime with additional content or patches. Does anybody or group of you have sufficiant experience in Flash Scripting and are you interested in developing a new and practical standard in adventure game engines? Cheers, Paul W. jp-30
I looked up geodogs on archive.org. Didn't find the swf in question, but the geodogs page used to have a flash button through to newgrounds.com. Newgrounds.com has 11 or so Monkey Island based flash files, though looking at a few of them I suspect none of these are the one you're looking for. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/search.php?kind=j&terms=monkey+island
telarium
I've been working on such an engine, although I don't know if I'll ever get around to finishing it. http://langleycreations.com/andrew/blog/?p=
Gabez
That looks awesome, Telarium. I love the way you did Guybrush. He really looks like he's there!
