Jamps Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I tried to post this in the Tech Support forum, but it said I don't have permission to use it.... Anyway, I just got Star Wars Galaxies and my computer meets the specs, but it runs horrible. I turn down the graphics and it still freezes. Are there any tricks to get a better framerate, and if not, what do i need to upgrade to make it run good? Thanks Specs: DxDiag: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 6/10/2007, 23:11:52 Machine name: YOUR-51098FA7A9 Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Gateway System Model: W3052 BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Processor: AMD Sempron 3000+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.0GHz Memory: 512MB RAM Page File: 515MB used, 638MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce FX 5500 DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0326&SUBSYS_927A1509&REV_A1 Display Memory: 256.0 MB Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor Monitor Max Res: 1600,1200 Driver Name: nv4_disp.dll Driver Version: 6.14.0010.9371 (English) DDI Version: 9 (or higher) Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 10/22/2006 12:22:00, 4527488 bytes WHQL Logo'd: Yes WHQL Date Stamp: n/a VDD: n/a Mini VDD: nv4_mini.sys Mini VDD Date: 10/22/2006 12:22:00, 3994624 bytes Device Identifier: {D7B71E3E-4066-11CF-2252-70B200C2CB35} Vendor ID: 0x10DE Device ID: 0x0326 SubSys ID: 0x927A1509 Revision ID: 0x00A1 Revision ID: 0x00A1 ------------- Sound Devices ------------- Description: NVIDIA® nForce Audio Default Sound Playback: Yes Default Voice Playback: Yes Hardware ID: NFORCE_VAD Manufacturer ID: 1 Product ID: 100 Type: WDM Driver Name: nvapu.sys Driver Version: 6.14.0462.0000 (English) Driver Attributes: Final Retail WHQL Logo'd: Yes Date and Size: 4/13/2005 12:34:02, 414464 bytes Other Files: Driver Provider: NVIDIA Corporation HW Accel Level: Full Cap Flags: 0xF5F Min/Max Sample Rate: 200, 100000 Static/Strm HW Mix Bufs: 20, 18 Static/Strm HW 3D Bufs: 16, 16 HW Memory: 0 Voice Management: No EAX 2.0 Listen/Src: Yes, Yes I3DL2 Listen/Src: Yes, Yes Sensaura ZoomFX: No Registry: OK Sound Test Result: Not run --------------------- Sound Capture Devices --------------------- Description: NVIDIA® nForce Audio Default Sound Capture: Yes Default Voice Capture: Yes Driver Name: nvapu.sys Driver Version: 6.14.0462.0000 (English) Driver Attributes: Final Retail Date and Size: 4/13/2005 12:34:02, 414464 bytes Cap Flags: 0x41 Format Flags: 0xCC0 ----------- DirectMusic ----------- DLS Path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\drivers\GM.DLS DLS Version: 1.00.0016.0002 Acceleration: n/a Ports: Microsoft Synthesizer, Software (Not Kernel Mode), Output, DLS, Internal, Default Port NVIDIA® nForce Audio, Software (Kernel Mode), Output, DLS, Internal Microsoft MIDI Mapper [Emulated], Hardware (Not Kernel Mode), Output, No DLS, Internal Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth [Emulated], Hardware (Not Kernel Mode), Output, No DLS, Internal Registry: OK Test Result: Not run ------------------------ Disk & DVD/CD-ROM Drives ------------------------ Drive: C: Free Space: 48.8 GB Total Space: 110.7 GB File System: NTFS Model: WDC WD1200BB-00GUA0 Drive: D: Free Space: 1.7 GB Total Space: 3.8 GB File System: FAT32 Model: WDC WD1200BB-00GUA0 Drive: E: Model: LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S Driver: c:\windows\system32\drivers\cdrom.sys, 5.01.2600.2180 (English), 8/4/2004 15:00:00, 49536 bytes SwgClientSetup: Hardware Info Version: 5 Number of Processors: 1 physical, 1 logical Cpu Vendor: AuthenticAMD Cpu Identifier: x86 Family 6 Model 10 Stepping 0 Cpu Speed: 1991 Mhz Physical Memory Size: 511 MB CD: 0 DVD: 1 Joysticks: 0 Joysticks: 0 FlightSticks: 0 GamePads: 0 Video Description: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 Video Identifier: 0x10DE[v], 0x0326[d] Video Driver Version: 6.14.0010.9371 Video Memory Size: 252 MB Vertex Shader Version: 2.0 Pixel Shader Version: 2.0 DirectX Version: 9.0c Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 2 BITS: enabled trackIR Version: Not supported User Info Version: 1 Audio: enabled DOT3: enabled HW mouse cursor: enabled HIQL: enabled Safe renderer: no Screen width: 1024 Screen height: 768 Windowed: no Borderless windowed: no Texture baking: enabled UseJoysticks: enabled Thanks
Rogue15 Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 you definitely need more ram. trust me on that one. when i had 512 ram it took like 5-10 minutes to load and forget mos eisley or theed or even restuss! upgraded to 1 gigabyte and it ran SO much better, even on AOL.
Guest DarthMaulUK Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Your first problem is...... Driver Date/Size: 10/22/2006 12:22:00 Out of date! Grab the latest nvidia drivers http://www.nvidia.com - install then reboot. You might also want to grab the latest version of direct x9c from Microsoft.com
Jamps Posted June 12, 2007 Author Posted June 12, 2007 I found something I hadn't turned down and then I upgraded my graphics drivers. Now it runs great, not on low detail either. Thanks.
