squiike
anyone know similar movies that got the dark sarcastic humor as in grim fandango? or at least the noir feel? (cant be too old..like Alfred Hitchcock) need some humor as well some i like is dick tracy - humor Bladerunner dark city (maltese falcon) - private eye Ace..was ok, but not too good tho Romeo is bleeding and Calvin and hobbes "Tracer Bulllet" heh =P calvin is perfect by the way! 100 bullets - "The Counterfifth Detective" is about perfect aswell the best set-up got to be a poor private detective
Du Man
don't think i can offer much here, but I can offer movies like the ones you listed here Immortel (Ad Vitam) is Bladerunner, Dark Cityish, though beware it's very weird Jacob's Ladder is a straight up horror film, but deals with a notion of the afterlife roughly similar to Grim Fandango's. Casablanca is definitly a must as the game was mostly based off of that movie, though not really any detectives to speak of. If you're really thrusty for some privite eye stuff, you could also check out the Dresden Files on the sci-fi channel, cross between a privite eye and harry potter. Also most Tim Burton films have the dark sense of humor, especially the animated ones, but not many private eyes.
Du Man
just thinking, a relivant, comidic series would be that of Nero Wolfe. Plunty of books, but there are a bunch of movie and radio adaptions, as well as an A&E telivision series that came out of the minisereis The Golden Spiders. There are also a bunch of really good mystery series on A&E, but most of them consists of british inspectors, while this one might have the rogish flare you're looking for. If you're at all into books though, Dashiell Hammett (who wrote maltese falcon) is a pretty good source of noir dedective stories
itchythesamurai
Sin City is great, it's like those old pulp comic books with the volume cranked up to eleven. Some massive homaging going on in that movie.
