Newb with a Q on sabers

Just took a look at this mod for an RP server of mine, and it seems pretty freaking awsome. There's only one problem, many people don't like the huge change to the saber system.

Is there any way to keep what's done in enhanced -except- the saber system? I looked at Basic, but it doesn't have all the other features. T.T

Welcome enlighted player! Tell em to quite their whining and learn the saber system. LOL. :p No but seriously, JKA is an old game that is slowly but gradually dying off (mostly thanks to Raven not selling it anymore in stores :firemad: )and this is a new saber system that works alot better than the base one once you understand all the features... and is not even 100% done yet! I'm hoping this system will help keep this game alive and new if/once it catches on (after its finished enough to do a big promotion).

I'm sure alot of your friends consider themselves great Base JKA saberists as I once did and don't like the idea of changing and learning a new one. But Probably 75% of all this games original saber heros have all moved on to other games and this percentage will keep going up as this game ages. Its time for a new generation of JKA saber heros that don't only include OJPs veterens.

Our exploits have been specifically designed to create some amazing movielike moments that just can't happen to the same level of excitment in base JKA. Example: just about a week ago, I was fighting two moderately skilled OJP players at the same time practicing using defense to win, and in this fight, I was losing bad. Well as I was in critical level DP, I was able to parrythem a few times I sensed that one of them might be high on their mishap and thus, vulnerable to force power (which is a way of getting around absorb which is now a passive power).. So I being at about 35 FP and sabers flying at me I risked using push. They BOTH got thrown at different angles from me and one of them flew into the lava! The other I hit on the ground forcing him to dodge and that scared him enough to retreat...I killed him shortly after ;) Doesn't get much better and more movielike than that. This is just one example, I have many more. Two on one fighting in this mod is so intense and so doable if you know what your doing. Learning this mod and becoming one of the best is a tough road, but is so rewarding I feel sorry for those who give up.

Anyways, good luck at convincing your friends. They truly don't know what their missing and if they wait too long, their may not be enough players left in JKA to find out.

Oh what the heck, another story. LOL. I was at an RP server a while back with alot of players there... and 200+ ping, yikes. I decided since most of them were fairly new that three of them fight me at once. I held them off for a while, but was starting to get low on FP and DP. I was able to get one of them at critical and he ran away. In order to kill at least one of them, I cartwheeled behind the other two and chased the guy who ran away. I caught up with him and did a little mroe damage while the other two caught up with me, they where both almost to me and about to get me with a running swing to the back (probably fatal) and I turned around with my slashed them both in half in one swing! (since they were running and swinging, they had no guard). The other guy got away because he still had enough FP to speed and jump away, but still a victory none the less.

Heh, it's certainly enough to convince me to play. Them however... they don't like change so much, which may force me to actually pay for two servers. One running this mod, the other on the more publicly known one (not sure if i'd get slammed for advertising here). It's gonna punch a hole in my budget but meh... old JKA is indeed boring. :p

P.S. I atleast got them to use OJP Basic. -.-

Ugh, now i'm getting rocked for there being no in-game admin system. I'd do it myself but... I have another post to that. Back on the sabers thing, I just tried playing on the test server today and well... I always lose. :(

Like I said, the road to mastering this saber system is long and hard. It's like mastering a new starwars game... where they actually got the saber system right!! ROFL! :p The bots are particularly hard and you probably wont be able to efficiently beat them until you master comboing WHILE you parry. If you can out combo and parry them, you'll win almost everytime. Parries stop combos, so you can keep a bot on from killing you with his own combos if you master this. Heck, with the lowest difficulty bots, you can often just combo them to death and get good practice at comboing since the rate at which they parry is pretty low.

The next step after that is to master winning with using 80% defense (parrying them constantly enough to jack up their mishap meter and use the exploits listed in the manual). If you can pass these two mile stones and beat bots on the hardest level, then prove you can use the same techniques against more seasoned players, you'll be one of the masters of this system. ;)
