I've been hoping for the lightsaber combat in Jedi Academy to be made much more accurate to Star Wars than it is in standard Jedi Academy in the next game in the Jedi Knight series (which will almost certainly be coming out sooner or later) or in the mean time perhaps in a mod. And it certainly looks as though you fellows have done it with this cool mod. I have the mod installed, and saw 4 servers up and running, but no one seems to be on them at this time, just some bots. So I was wondering what times of the day do players tend to play? I've read the manual and would like to get a feel for how lightsaber combat works in the enhanced version of the mod. JRHockney* Posted September 25, 2007 Share Posted September 25, 2007 You guess is a good as mine these days I see people on the ES server during the afternoon at times (US mountian time) and occasionally people on the RP server on weekends. I try to come on my server (the OJP code testing server) any time I see people on it so and I'm around usually late after noon or between 10 -12 pm. Since OJP is still being balanced and bug cleaned, we havent done our media blitz yet and we probably wont have that many servers or players until that happens. Most of us hardcore OJP players and veterans keep in touch through MSN IM or hamachi. PM one of us your IM address or ask for ours and you'll be able to contact us if you want to play with someone real for sure rather than just checking the servers ever now and again for players. Btw, if you havent read the manual, I would very highly recommend it or you'll be clueless when you fight bots or real people. I also have trained more peopel than I can count if you want to go that route. Our system is VERY different in order to achieve the fast swinging toe to toe movie realism that OJP has. Its major fun and extremely intense once you understand everything and are able to fight veterans. Heck I've been playing this mod for years and STILL enjoy fighting bots! With OJP you HAVE to actually learn how to use a lightsaber, and there's a learning curb. The more you ask, the more you practice...the better you become, and more rewarding the gameplay !! I'm sometimes in and out the servers, but not often. JRHockney's OJP-E Test server is the one I usually frequent. Just keep an eye out. OJP is slowly starting to spread word, so much so that nearly everytime I check the servers, theres been someone new practising. Hope to see you around soon Enjoy !! The lightsaber combat is vastly more accurate to Star Wars in the OJP mod than regular JA, it's sooo much better. Hope to see all of you guys online soon, that OJP test code server seems to be set up very well for lightsaber duels, so I'll be playing on that one quite a bit I guess. Dunedain Posted September 26, 2007 Author Share Posted September 26, 2007 I think this mod is going to become very popular with Jedi Knight fans that want lightsaber combat to be much closer to how it really is in Star Wars than you get in regular Jedi Knight II or Jedi Academy. If you want lightsaber combat that is accurate to Star Wars, then this mod is the best yet done in any video game. I saw at least 2 other guys in just the last couple of days that were new to the mod and playing on the code test server. So word is starting to get out about this mod, and when they play it and see how great it is, they are going to really like it. It's as simple as this, do you want to be able to fight in Jedi vs sith lightsaber duels that are as close as possible to the real duels we've seen in the Star Wars trilogy and the prequels? Then play the Open Jedi Project enhanced version mod, because it comes closer to that goal that anything else yet made in any video game. By the way, it's around 1 p.m. eastern time right now, so if anyone wants to get some practice in I'm going to be on the code test server now for awhile.
