Aash Li
I tried ddo, and it was ok, but apparently all you do is run around Stormreach, and go into dungeons? Or am I missing something...?

HappyMojo
I tried ddo, and it was ok, but apparently all you do is run around Stormreach, and go into dungeons? Or am I missing something...? Well, yes and no. There are more areas then Stormreach like Giant Hold and Tangleroot etc... But never the less, it's still the same. It doen't really have the huge open landscapes except for some parts where you can roam and kill stuff. But when you look at it. DDO does exactly what WoW does. They are just cutting away the travel time. However! The gameplay is so much cooler then WoW. The wizard for instance have to do so much more then just dealing damage and aggro-manage. They have to buff the party, weaken the enemy, repair Warforged(Player robots). The tanks is also more then just a punching bag and an aggro collector, since a good part of the game they are the main damage dealers. + You have the ability to multiclass and create a bardbarian (Band and Barbarian) or a fighter/mage. (the lvl cap is now 16 btw) Also, when levelling - even if there are only 16 levels. Something is happening all the time, since each level consist of five steps (making it 80 "levels"), where you get what's called an action point (You can use it to improve your character) and every lvl you get some new skills, spells and maybe a feat. Last and not least. In WoW, the majority was bad players. In DDO, most players are actually quite good and more friendly. I don't know if it is the game system itself that leads to it, or because the players are more mature. People share when they need to complete a difficult quest, even if it costs them quite a bit. And that's great! Also looting is way better. Chests got items for each and every character in the party, not just for one. So all gets a piece of the action.
