Why wont my NPC talk?

This is probably the most basic question ever asked, but I couldn't find an answer anywhere on the interweb. For some reason my Swoop Droid refuses to talk. Its not the VOs that are missing, its just the dialog won't fire. What do I need to name my .dlg file as to make it work? Or is there a script I need to use?

Is there a better way to edit it than through notepad?

I tried that, and it REALLY didn't like it (ie, KOTOR crashed on me). Did I put it in the right place?

The easiest way to edit an .utc file (just like most Kotor files) is through Kotor Tool. You just Open Kotor Tool and then go to File -> Open GFF Files... -> Your .utc file. In the Basic tab, you've got the Conversation field, where you put the name of the dialog file (without the extension). ;)

Off hand the only thing I can think of for when you use notepad is for writing scripts, most other KOTOR/TSL/NWN/JE files contain a lot of stuff that notepad can't read, trying to edit with notepad will corrupt the file.

Aslo is the dialog for KOTOR or TSL? If it's for TSL, any you didn't know this already, you have to use DLG Editor has the one that comes with KOTOR Tool will also corrupt TSL .dlg files.
