Editing or creating new Journal Missions and Entries

I am trying to alter the Journal Entries just to experiment with. I added a few characters (Letters) and for the mission "Attack on the Endar Spire" and the mission didn't even show up in my Journal. I deleted the characters and left file in the Override folder. I tried the mission again and it still didn't show up. What is going on and what can I do to fix this to allow me to change or alter what the missions say. Thank you
