Sir Vougalot
I'd like to create the mod's official strategy guide. Well, probably not single-handedly; I wish it to be separated into two sections, as all professional strategy guides are: part one dealing with the introduction to the story and characters, weapon and enemy stats, and general tips; and part two being the walkthrough. To do it, I will need detailed information from the designers for part one, as well as the details from the level designers on where to find every secret area and Easter egg for each lever, and generally how to get through the levels (I tend to get lost a lot as I am not yet familiar with the layouts). I figured now that the project is finished you may be able to spend some time with the information I need to create a thorough, detailed strategy guide for this mod. The other area I will need help in is the general design of the guide as well as a website to host it. I should have no trouble typing up the text and providing the corresponding screen shots, but I don't know how to do much more than that. I remember someone on here recently created his own guide which looked quite nice with artwork and Aurabesh lettering. If someone would be willing to do that for me, it would be great. I will essentially provide the Word documents containing all of the text and screen shots, and it will be up to someone who is able to format them and design the guide, and host it. (I'm thinking an Acrobat Reader web page would probably be the best way to go.) So to sum it all up, I am essentially calling on volunteers for positions: 1. The DF Mod team who can provide the detailed information. 2. People with artistic talent who can design a guide in Adobe Acrobat Reader format and host it. 3. Possibly someone to help me with the text as it will take me forever if I go at it alone, with what little time I have. The guide will be comprised of two sections: Part 1: Introduction to Dark Forces and DF Mod, story introduction, main character introduction (heroes and villains), enemy descriptions and stats, weapon descriptions and stats, general tips and training. Part 2: A detailed walkthrough complete with full-color screen shots, a concise rundown through each mission (possibly with multiple paths), every secret level and Easter egg revealed. If anyone is interested, please post here. It may be a good idea if this thread were stickied. Thank you, and I look forward to working with anyone willing to lend a hand. -John
DarkStarMojo
I'm willing to help out in any way I can. As a matter of fact, the thought of putting together some kind of walk through had crossed my mind as well.
Sir Vougalot
I have an idea: How about if you (or one of the staff who knows all of the levels intimately) create a series of videos of you playing through the levels, exploring and exposing every secret and saying, "Go here; do this," send them to me, and I will play transpose them into text (in my own words) as well as play the levels myself? I figure that that would be the easiest way to get the project off the ground. The level designers play their respective levels and record themselves doing so with audio commentary. On_Your_Six
There's a pretty decent one on gamefaqs already... The weapons and enemies are already pretty well covered... Beyond that, as for the actual faq, the odd thing about it is the way the authour directs the player (you'd have to see it to understand)... Sir Vougalot
There is no walkthrough for this mod on Gamefaqs. The one that's there is for the original game. It doesn't suffice for this mod as the level designs are very different. That was the whole point of my idea.
On_Your_Six
I didn't find them too terribly different (I did have to resort to using it a couple of times), but again, I mostly posted that because it has an extensive section on the enemies and weapons in the game... GrayFox814
Ok, If its any help, I have the original strategy guide somewhere around here. That and I have a program called Adobe InDesign which I used to create a magazine for a school project. It can export into pdf format. And I will have a website to host it on...soon. My current website i'm going to let expire and i'm going to get a new one with a new domain for free for one year when my mom renews one of her websites. Let me know if i can help. Sir Vougalot
Sweet, thanks! Yeah, that should help tremendously. Though it's going to be difficult to work on this in between all of the stuff I'm currently juggling, with work and other writing projects.
