SilentScope001
http://www.economist.com/daily/news/displaystory.cfm?story_id=11039582&top_story=1 Ronald Regan is rolling in his grave. The Maoists are still designated as a terrorist group by the USA, and India is dealing with its own Maoist rebels as well. China's Maoists and the Nepalian Maoists had some tension, with each Maoist faction claiming to be the correct and true Maoist faction, but now China is shrugging their shoulders and will work with whatever faction who runs Nepal. It is suspected India will do the same too. This election was done as part of a peace agreement with the Maoists a couple of years ago, ending the Maoist insurgnecy. Most people thought the Maoists would lose the election, and then return back to violence. A few people manitaned the Maoists won because of a combination of their insurgency tactics (basically intimidating voters)...and actual popularitiy. Oh, and these Nepalian Maoists embrace capitalism as much as the Chinese Maoists do too. So, no worries about the rise of USSR-style communism. mur'phon
It could be worse, at least the maoists apears to want to keep democracy. Besides, they might actually do something about the gender/caste discrimination.
