NewGuy
Hello, I decided to replay both KOTOR and TSL recently. I've had no problems with KOTOR and at first no problems with TSL. I decided to update my video card driver a few days back. Afterwards, TSL wouldn't even open. It would show the opening screen, and then the screen would be completely black except for the mouse cursor. I changed to a different driver and I was able to finally see the main menu. However, everytime I open any saved game, it is extremely laggy to the point where it's unplayable. At times the game doesn't even load and the game crashes. I have no idea what might be causing this issue. I am running this game on a laptop on Windows XP. Here is the information that I got from the Configuration test from the game: [sWKotOR] ReportDateTime=10/10/2008 5:00:15 PM SysInfoVersion=v1.00.60 GameExists=1 GameVersion=v2.10.427 GameInstallLocation=C:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\ [OS] Name=WinXP Version=Windows XP v5.1 build 2600 Service Pack 2 Service Pack=Service Pack 2 Status=Pass [swapFiles] C:\pagefile.sys=1536 [CPU] CPUCount=1 CPUSpeed=1839 CPUFamily=6 CPUModel=14 CPUStepping=8 CPUVendor=Intel CPUName=Genuine Intel® CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz Status=Pass [Memory] RAM=1024 Status=Pass [Disk Free Space] C: (NTFS), UNICODE=17.69GB Status=Pass [CD-ROMs] DriveLetters=D:\,E:\ Drives=HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N,TSSTcorp CDW/DVD TS-L462C [Video] Video Card Name=NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 Video Memory=512 Desktop Resolution=1440x900x32 @ 60Hz DirectX=DirectX 9.0c (4.09.00.0904) OpenGL Version=2.1.2 OpenGL Vendor=NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL Renderer=GeForce Go 7300/PCI/SSE2 NVidia Driver=6.14.11.7648 Vid Card Status=Warning Vid Card Driver Status=Pass GL Status=Pass DX Status=Pass [Audio] Sound Card Name=Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000. Any help that anyone can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks.
DarthParametric
First off, please don't call it lag. That drives me up the freaking wall when people call it that. What you are experiencing is a framerate reduction. Lag is an increase in ping times over an internet connection. If you experienced no issues with an earlier Forceware revision then I would advise you to roll back to whatever version that was. I have run K1 fine on my laptop. It's a C2D 2GHz with a 7600. Can't recall the exact revision but I'd hazard a guess that it's running one of the 168 drivers. Seems to me there are issues with the Odyssey engine and OGL versions over 2.0. NewGuy
So just after posting I decided to do some more noodling around. Turns out under Compatibility tab of swkotor2, it was being forced to run under Windows 98 compatibility. I have no idea how that came to be since I didn't touch that tab, but I unchecked it. Everything's running as smooth as normal. Thanks to Parametric for his quick response.

While different kinds of latency are well defined technical terms, lag is the symptom, not the cause."
