Joystick Axis Question

Once someone told me you could swap the joystick axis, for rudder control and banking/rolling in XWA.

 

Here's the problem:

The twisting handle of the joystick should control the rudder "always", and tilting the handle side to side should control banking/rolling "always". The problem is that in the XWA game these two controls are just the opposite.

 

Is there a way to change this either in one of the config files, or some other way?

I just located these two strings in the fronttxt file in XWA.

!STR_ROTATE_X!Rotate X

!STR_ROTATE_Y!Rotate Y

 

First, are these strings referring to joystick axis controls, and if so could you insert another string so that it reads like this?

!STR_ROTATE_Z!Rotate X

!STR_ROTATE_X!Rotate Z

!STR_ROTATE_Y!Rotate Y

 

Could this possibly cure the problem with axis controls?

I don't know. I don't have one of those kind of sticks, so I wouldn't be able to tell you how to do it. You can try the Totally Games forums, where one of the developers may be able to answer the question.
