I'm trying to include a new area i created and i think to include my new models into the game i need to create a new file.key that refers to the bif file conteining the models so i want to know is there any tool available to create bif files (i know the file is bifc) and also key files. If they are available where can i find them?

I know kotor tool can extract the bif files but cannot create new ones, so it won't help me.

If by models you are talking about the Mdl/Mdx files then all that you need to do with them is drop them in your override folder in your Kotor installation directory (Default path: C:/program Files/Lucasarts/SWKotor/Override/).

Yes by models i'm talking about the mdl (aurora files) files, but what i want to do, is adding a new area (by area i'm talking about 3d meshes of an environment i've created), but i don't know if the game would recognize the files by dropping them to the override directory.

So i think it would be better to make a new mymod.key file that refers to mymod.bif that would be the file that contains these mdl files. And what i'm asking is if there are any tools that can make .key files and .bif files.

I have made countless new area's from scratch and all you need to do is drop the Mdl/Mdx (aurora files) files in your overrried folder. And the game will have them.

To my knowledge there is now tool to date that can make/repack a Bif archive. And I think the reason for that is any file that you would need to repack in a Bif you can just drop in the override folder. But for files like the .Git, module.ifo, and .are files they have to be repacked in a .rim/.mod file.

Here you can find all modding tools that have been released for Kotor I/II

I hope this post was helpful.

i didn't make any statement, it was just a question. And by 3d meshes of an environment i meant the models that conform an area (like 506onda.mdl, 506ondb.mdl, 506ondc.mdl... that conforms the palace of onderon) i'm sorry if i didn't explained myself very well but my english is not so good.

Ok thanks for your help, i get it now. I'm working in a new city but it is very hard work making objects and everything that is envolved. Just to say that i've spent 3 hours making 4 rooms, but the games worths the efford. :)

There isn't a bif/key editor available mainly because it's not necessary.

The mdl/mdx files can be packed into a .mod file and distributed in that manner, or as individual files in the override folder as others have said.

Ok i get it now, thanks for your support, now everything is clear.

When i finished my city i'll start to work on my mod but for now i'm only into the modeling part for the area.

Thanks to all of you. I appreciate the help, and again sorry for my english.
