Achilles Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 http://www.reasonproject.org/ After months of waiting, this organization appears to finally be up and running. Do you think secular endeavors such as TRP, CFI, etc are the beginning of a fundamental shift in American society or a flash in the pan (or something else altogether)? Please explain your answer.
Alkonium Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Well, either way it's a step in the right direction. Logic and Reason should be at the forefront of decision making.
Achilles Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 Food for thought: The Jewish community makes up something like 1.2% of the U.S. population. Non-theists make up about 15% (I tried to come up with a conservative guess based on the high-end and low-end numbers I hear bandied about). Considering how much clout the Israel lobby has in the U.S. it would be interesting to see what would happen if non-theists were equally organized.
Totenkopf Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Well, if the theists (in America's case, Christians) had the influence that their #s suggested, you'd be even unhappier than you are now.
