Crowley
Currently I am consistently getting crashes to desktop with an illegal function when I open up the character sheet for my main character or Zaalbar in KOTOR. Occasionally I get crashes at other times at combat or talking to an NPC, but the character sheet is the main source of crashes. The game is patched to version 1.03. edit: I just *once* managed to enter the character sheets in question without crash after changing all graphics settings to lowest possible. Unfortunately it didn't work after that, so that might have just been a fluke that actually had nothing to do with the graphics settings. Processor: AMD 3,5 GHz Memory: 2 gigabytes Sound card: Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Graphics card: GeForce 8600 with latest drivers Operating system: Windows XP with Service Pack 3 And here's what the game's system scan reports: [sWKotOR] ReportDateTime=25.8.2009 23:20:59 SysInfoVersion=v1.00.60 GameExists=1 GameVersion=v1.03.514077 GameInstallLocation=D:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR\ [OS] Name=WinXP Version=Windows XP v5.1 build 2600 Service Pack 3 Service Pack=Service Pack 3 Status=Pass [swapFiles] D:\pagefile.sys=1536 [CPU] CPUCount=1 CPUSpeed=2210 CPUFamily=15 CPUModel=15 CPUStepping=2 CPUVendor=AMD CPUName=AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+ Status=Pass [Memory] RAM=2048 Status=Pass [Disk Free Space] D: (NTFS), UNICODE=91.40GB Status=Pass [CD-ROMs] DriveLetters=E:\,F:\ Drives=DVDRW DRW-6S160P,LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S [Video] Video Card Name=NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT Video Memory=512 Desktop Resolution=1280x960x32 @ 60Hz DirectX=DirectX (9.0+) (4.09.00.0904) OpenGL Version=3.1.0 OpenGL Vendor=NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL Renderer=GeForce 8600 GT/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW! Q
Thank you for listing your specs. You should give the Dantooine Lag Fix a try, as I believe that all DX10 hardware requires it: First, figure out where the .ini is installed. Default is "C:\Program Files\Lucasarts\swkotor2\swkotor2.ini". If its not in that location, then your going to have to do some searching around on the hard drive a bit. When you find it, just double-click on the file to open it in Notepad. Scroll down the file until you find the Graphics Options Under the last line ("last line" as in the last line of the list of entries under "Graphics Options", NOT the last line of "swkotor(2).ini), add "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1", without the quotes. Goto File, then Save.
Crowley
Some further experimentation shows that these crashes seem to happen most often when I have Zaalbar in the party, while viewing the character sheets while in the Ebon Hawk is fairly safe. You should give the Dantooine Lag Fix a try, as I believe that all DX10 hardware requires it: Uh, all right. The instructions seem to be directed towards TSL, but I'll see if it can be applied to KOTOR. edit: Well, color me flabbergasted! That seems to have fixed the issue neatly. Thank you! Q
It's actually for both games, and you're welcome. It's a classic fix from back when KotOR 1 came out to get it to run on ATI cards. Please do us a favor and spread it around.
