Darca Lar
I use a Westell 327W router that started acting sporadically on my direct computer but worked fine with wireless devices. I reset the router and now works somewhat fine, but the WiFi is completely inactive now. Does anyone know how to fix the problem?
urluckyday
Just a few outlining questions. How many computers usually use the WiFi on the router? How long have you had the router?
Darca Lar
Usually one to two computers, 2 consoles but never at the same time. I've had the router for at least 8 months now.
urluckyday
Now is there wifi in the house and your computers just can't connect or is there no wifi coming from the router itself?
urluckyday
btw...is this for Verizon internet?
Darca Lar
Centurytel Internet, but the router itself cannot be found by any other WiFi devices such as my PS3 or my Laptop
urluckyday
Was the router supplied to you for specific use by the internet company, or did you just buy this one yourself?
Darca Lar
It was supplied
urluckyday
Okay, I believe I have a westell at home too (I haven't been home in a few months so I can't check) but it was supplied by Verizon, and it started doing the same thing...even after I reset it, it wasn't outputting any wi-fi... The only thing that I was able to do was call up Verizon and request a new one because the old one had burned out. They said that that can happen to some of their routers (ugh I wish I could use my own), so they sent me a new one overnight. Now I'm not sure about your ISP's customer service, but if you explain your problem, I'm sure they'd be happy to help since they were the ones who provided it to you. I know that you were probably expecting some actual tech support, but I think that this is the most effective way to solve the problem since it sounds similar to mine. You might be without internet for a day or two when they ship you the new router, but mine has worked great since then. Supplied routers just don't seem to work nearly as well, however, it's almost better because the company that provided it is liable instead of you. Best of luck, and I'm sorry that I couldn't be more help.
