Hi im new to these forums and i wanted to to know if there is anyway to fix the game crash i get when the cutscene after the character creation scene is finished.

My main system specs

Os: Win7 home premium

Cpu: Intel T5500{1.66ghz)

Gfx: Intel Gma 950

Ram: 1gb ddr2 ram

Speakers: Soundmax digital hd audio

Harddrive: 120gb fujitsu 5400rpm

I already tried the mss32.dll fix which did not work and i know this system is pretty crappy but i played kotor i on high settings at 1024x768 with 4x af and shadows and grass off and i got 25+ fps and since kotor ii is based on the same gfx engine i should at least be able to play it.

You're going to want to uninstall the game and then reinstall it according to the instructions in the first 2 posts of this thread. Start by updating DirectX as I instructed in the second post. Then install the game according to Astro's instructions in the first post, and patch the game according to my instructions in the second. Then download the replacement mss32.dll found here and the SecuROM fixed swkotor2.exe found here, and put them in the main game folder after either renaming the old ones or moving them elsewhere. Then do the Dantooine lag fix as instructed in EDIT #4 of the second post, and switch the Intel GMA driver's "flipping policy" to "blit" under "3D Options" in the driver's control panel. Lastly, set CPU affinity according to EDIT #3 of the second post every time you launch the game.

I've done everything listed in this thread and still no luck. I bought this game specially for when I bought my laptop in 2007.

OS: Vista Home Premium 32 bit

Video Card: Intel Pentium Dual Core

My main problem isn't getting the game to run, the problem lies within the game right after the first cutscene. Right after the cutscene ends, the game completely crashes with an unknown error.

This is a 3 year old laptop, any suggestions?

Try using the game's configuration utility to post your system specs:

Post your system specs

Sometimes we're just not going to be able to help you if we don't know what kind of hardware you have on your machine. If you don't know what you have on your machine, then follow these steps below:

  • Bring up the launcher menu for Kotor 1 or 2.
  • Click on "Configure".
  • Click the "Scan Hardware" button on the lower center of the window.
  • Click "Yes" to continue.
  • Click "Details" to view your system specs.
  • Click "Save Report" and save the file to your desktop.
  • Whenever you post your problem, open the file you just saved and copy and paste the contents to your post.
