Replace Default Clothes

I would to like to replace the default clothes for each PC class.

I did a search and this has been asked before: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=125121&highlight=replace+default+clothes

Also, this mod is similar to what I would like to do: http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/New_Female_Clothes_for_Classes;103725

What I'd be replacing the clothes with is armor, but not have them with the armor stats.

I already have the Kotor Tool, and have been using it, looking through the files and using other mods as reference to try and find the files that I need to use, tga, mdx, mdl, for each class and gender.

I am a complete noob at even attempting to try my hand at modding, so hopefully this won't be too difficult... I hope.

If I can get this to pan out, then my other follow up idea for it is try recoloring, to give each one a different look, but I figure that will probably be a more involved task to attempt, but one step at a time.

I'm slow at this sort of thing, so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The way to change their clothes is in appearance 2DA. For Example, PHFCA or whatever, look in the modelb and textureb columns.

Pretty much true, aside from the fact that there isn't a PHFCA model/texture in either game. Any model with "PFH" or PMH" usually denotes a head model. "PFB" or "PMB" would denote a body model.

To change the default clothing, you could either change the columns for modelb/texa, or extract the desired model/s with KOTOR tool, and rename the model/s to:

Female:

PFBBL - Soldier

PFBBM - Scout

PFBBS - Scoundrel

Male:

PMBBL - Soldier

PMBBM - Scout

PMBBS - Scoundrel

For TSL, you can't just rename a model to, say, "N_CommF", as this model is used for more than just the player(most notably the commoners on Telos and Narr Shaddaa). In this case, you need to change the apperance.2da columns and rows.

Thanks for the help, Johnathon and Rtas.

After some time, I believe I've figured it out.

Now, I should be able to do what I want to with it.

One other thing, is there a list for the tpc files?

I can't always recognize in the images which armor is which, and I'm looking for a particular one, Heavy Exoskeleton.

Thanks.

yes, use Kotor tool, look in ERFs- Texture Packs. There are four of the packs and the files are each in their own lettered section. If you want to convert one to a tga, just extract and it asks you if you want to convert it. However, I am not familiar with that particular name of the skin

Easiest way to find the texture that a certain armor uses, is to look at its uti file. These are listed under BIFs->templates.bif->Blueprint, item. The name for the armors should be g_a_class[number goes here - such as 4001]. When you open the item editor, you need to find the "texture variation", which tells you the number of the texture that item uses. You can click the "Description" tab to tell you the armor's name.

If you go to the forum directory:

LucasForums > Network > Knights of the Old Republic > Editing / Modding > Holowan Laboratories > Tutorials: General Tutorials + Tools

then, at the top of that page there is a sticky for the Table of Contents. In that thread, about half way down, under the heading Custom items (.uti editing ), are two links for a complete list of Items in both games.

From there, you should be able to find the info about the armour you're looking for. Then you can follow Rtas Vadum's advice :)

(BTW, the Heavy Exoskeleton is g1_a_class8001.uti)

I could have just posted the link, but this way, you can see that there is so much other information already listed on these Forums.

Happy modding.

Thanks for all the help.

I was having a hard time with the armors not looking right on the PC's, until just a few minutes ago, while looking thru the armor textures and the mdl/mdx files.

It finally occurred me that the armor textures wore in sections with a specific letter to them, and that I had to use the mdl/mdx files that matched those letters, in order for the armors to look right on the PC's.

Now I can really go thru them and choose the one's that I want to use.
