so i am trying to play KOTOR 2 on my pc, and everything should work, but i keep getting told that:

"your current video card drivers are out of date

NVidia cards require Detonator 45.23 drivers or better".

i have tried everything i can think of and cant find any fixes online.

i have already run the setup in compatability mode as the admin, replaced the Mss32.dll file, set the swkotor2.exe to run in compatibiltiy mode , and updated the game.

also KOTOR 1 runs just fine, i just finished playing it.

heres what i am running:

Windows 7 pro 64-bit

AMD Athlon x64 dualcore 5000+ 2.6 GHz

4 GB OCZ Ram

Radeon HD 4850

Catalyst 10.2

thats the only error i get on the system details check list. some one please help me.

The game is too old to recognize new video drivers.

Please post your specs using the game's configuration utility:

Post your system specs

Sometimes we're just not going to be able to help you if we don't know what kind of hardware you have on your machine. If you don't know what you have on your machine, then follow these steps below:

  • Bring up the launcher menu for Kotor 1 or 2.
  • Click on "Configure".
  • Click the "Scan Hardware" button on the lower center of the window.
  • Click "Yes" to continue.
  • Click "Details" to view your system specs.
  • Click "Save Report" and save the file to your desktop.
  • Whenever you post your problem, open the file you just saved and copy and paste the contents to your post.

This will help me determine what you need to do to get the game running.

You're going to have to uninstall and then reinstall the game according to the large-print instructions at the top of the second post in this thread. Do everything that it tells you to do, in the order that it tells you to do it and the game should run fine. If it doesn't, try this:

I downloaded ATI System Tools, created a game profile where I set Direct3d and OpenGL settings to Auto Balanced and it worked like a charm!
