Zarza Mora
Yes. I'm serious. This appears to be a unique problem, seeing as I have not found any preexisting threads on this forum or elsewhere about dragons on the Endar Spire. It's quite the bizarre phenomenon. I recently got KOTOR working on my new laptop (it was a long and bloody battle), and I'm so stoked I can play the game that I don't really care that much about fixing this, but, uh... It's weird. Really weird. I started a new game, and when I got out into the hallway (outside the locked door, where you have your first-ever combat with the Sith), there was a giant dragon flank just chillin in the hallway. It's completely harmless; characters walk through it and there's no interactions whatsoever (not with the walls, either - the parts I couldn't see are, I assume, extending into other parts of the ship). Also, when you receive the video message from Carth, there's a dragon in the background. Oh, and on top of that, Trask is now a Twi'lek, even though his portrait is still the slightly-Albino-looking blond guy. Why, I don't know. I don't even know if it's related to the sudden and random appearance of dragons. So... Any ideas what the crap is up with this? It's like my character is hallucinating hardcore and I'm witnessing it. Or maybe the dragon just didn't fit in the cargo hold. Who knows. Help? Zarza Mora
I almost forgot... Here's proof. Screenshots of dragon parts and Trask-turned-Twi'lek: My character in the second room, with Trask behind her and a dragon extremity of some sort in front of her: New random game started to get a picture of that first hallway:
Zarza Mora
OK, I have a hypothesis. After opening a ton of new games to see if the dragon was there every time (which it was), I've noticed every now and then it, like, seizes up, and supposedly dies, because there's some voice like a person dying and then its body disappears. From the looks of it, there are other dragons throughout the ship. So here's my preliminary theory: Somehow, the models for some of the Sith soldiers have gotten switched from their normal models to... well, to dragon models. *blinkblink* Why, how, or where the change happened, I don't know. I don't even know if that's what's up. But Trask's case is similar, if less severe, so it seems like it's a pattern. Which isn't saying much, considering the situation. *sigh* I just want to fix this before I open a door and find myself face to face with a dragon head and have a heart attack or pee myself or something. ChAiNz.2da
well, of all the glitches I've seen.. this is at least the kewlest Do you perchance have any mods loaded? It's about the only way I know that could cause this unless your install somehow managed to delete a few lines in the appearance.2da file
Wookiee Rrudolf
Try to delete your Override folder in game's directory. Make a backup before that of course. If the dragons disappear than you know for sure it was due to some mod conflict. If they stay or you don't have a Override folder than it's the weirdest glitch ever (Maybe adding a appearance.2da file from some mod could fix it?) Zarza Mora
Thank you both for your suggestions. And yeah, I guess it was a pretty cool glitch... But only because it was curable, haha. I would hate to go through the whole game with dragon-people taking up my entire screen. Anyway... The mystery has been solved! Kind of, at least; I still have no idea how the appearance.2da got altered to cause such crazy results, but that was the root of the problem. Following my hypothesis, I deleted the appearance.2da file out of my Override folder, and everything was back to normal. After deleting it, I realized that Trask and the dragon-people were not the only thing wrong. If you look at the second screenshot, not only can you see the dragon and Twi'lek-Trask, but you can also see that the "Sith" are not in their uniforms. I was halfway right about Sith soldiers' models being exchanged with dragon models: If you start a new game and watch the cutscene after you enter the locked hallway, you watch the Sith shoot down a republic soldier. What I thought was just graphic chaos due to mixed up data was actually a cutscene, and I was right about the dragon dying. Turns out, the Republic soldiers were the ones who had turned into dragons. Also, my character is a soldier. As you can see from the first screenshot, she's dressed in a scout uniform. After deleting the appearance.2da file, she's now in the [obnoxiously bulky] soldier uniform. Problem solved. Because I just got the game loaded, I had almost no mods installed, so wiping out the .2da file and reinstalling everything was relatively painless. I doubt any glitch or bug I'll come across will top this one.
