Hey just a curious question...is there any way I can alter the contrast in JKII ? Do I have to use the console or something ?

I don't believe there is a strictly contrast setting in any Q3 powered game. You can try messing with r_intensity and r_gamma until you get something you like.

 

note: yuou have to do a vid_restart after changing r_intensity.
