Keyoke
Game runs fine (as far as I know) as long as movies are disabled. I just, uh, want to be able to watch them. If movies are enabled, I can't even get to the main menu. Just get the Lucasarts logo, then flashes back to my desktop with the Ebon Hawk splashscreen for a couple seconds (which then disappears). KOTOR continues to run, but alt-tabbing back to it does nothing. Yes, I installed according to the second post with the blah blah, step by step from a clean install. No, it's not cracked or anything. Legit copy, the 4-disk PC version. Using Windows 7 in Boot Camp on a 2011 Macbook Pro, running the thing in XP SP2 compatibility mode as an administrator. Also did the Dantooine lag fix. Here's my specs. Q
Modern AMD/ATI drivers don't support the KotOR games well, if at all, so you'll need to make them compatible. Download Catalyst 9.12 and extracting it using 7-Zip. After extraction find the "atioglxx.dll" file and put it in your game folder (the one where the swkotor.exe is located). You can also try downloading and installing ATI Tray Tools, and use them to create a game profile in which you set the Direct3d and OpenGL settings to "Auto Balanced". It's also possible that the movie problem may be solved as simply as by adding support for 640x480 by setting up a custom resolution in your graphics driver control panel if it's not already supported. Getting that file out of the Windows XP version of Catalyst 9.12 (the file extension was .dl_ rather than .dll) worked. I tried the Windows 7 x64 one first and that did not. I did also install ATI Tray Tools, but haven't done any fiddling with it. One of those two things worked, though, so I can now actually make it to the main menu. I'll start playing and see if any further problems arise. Thanks for the help.
