chay Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Interesting what you can find in the recesses of the internet... The file name is very interesting too (TTGames_GFHD_Manny_Test_014.jpg) Would 2012 be the 15 year anniversary? seems a good time for a version with updated visuals ala Monkey Island... EDIT- Had to upload this to my own web space as the original link doesn't seem to work any more:
Alexrd Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Oh my...! Could it be? Where did you got that?
chay Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 found it hidden in a folder when doing a Grim Fandango search. Perhaps the artist uploaded it to transfer it over or something and forgot to delete it? Can't be sure.

chay Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 I don't know, but I bet they wish they hadn't left the image in an open folder
cplhenshaw Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I put on my Internet Detective hat and cloak. 3D artist and illustrator by the name of Chay Plus there was some info in the JPEG that suggested it went through Photoshop on 2011:10:25 09:59:08 So I wouldn't be holding my breath for a Telltale remake on the back of this. But I would be hoping for plenty more pics. The image is incredible, it's not often that a professional artist turns their hand to the world of Grim Fandango.
chay Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 Hehe, good sleuthing cplhenshaw Sorry for getting your hopes up guys, I just wanted to see if anyone would think it was good enough to be "real". I did think about submitting it totally anonymously but realised I'm not a very good liar, ho hum! Would be nice if Telltale would do an HD refresh, but yeah I doubt very much that they will. Glad you like the image. If I have time at some point, I am thinking of recreating the cafe/bar interior in full HD, based on the original game background and also the concept sketch that is floating around the net. I used to work doing architectural visuals so I think I could do it justice.

N3mo Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Ahah So beautiful! (maybe a little too real). BUT GIVE US MORE.
j_hunter_hkr Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Well, that's just mean! Great model though, I'd love to see Glottis in this style... Got me thinking though, has anyone ever attempted a human Manny? Y'know, with the same proportions as dead Manny but with skin, eyes, hair, etc... ?

Got me thinking though, has anyone ever attempted a human Manny? Y'know, with the same proportions as dead Manny but with skin, eyes, hair, etc... ? Thanks I was thinking I might try Glottis next. Or Meche of course... When I was searching for reference I did see someone's sketch of what Manny might look like before he died. Very square in the head apparently, with the same teeth! Made me chuckle though! EDIT Found it! http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=grim+fandango+manny+alive&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1780&bih=967&tbm=isch&tbnid=hjbkNHUKWJlOkM:&imgrefurl=http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2009/10/forensic_reconstruction_of_gri.php&docid=K2dCiwOVY5sI4M&imgurl=http://www.gamesetwatch.com/091019-manny.jpg&w=470&h=355&ei=ey2rTo3JHJLZ8QPs9qixCw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=97&sig=109834842754249307368&page=1&tbnh=151&tbnw=200&start=0&ndsp=45&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0&tx=182&ty=101
N3mo Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 There is a thread about human characters here And this was my try:
