Raekwon
I know there's two separate stickies that this could have been included in, but the one that was specifically targeted for fixes had 'n/a' in the kotor section which didn't give me much hope for finding a fix in there. It also followed the general theme of the internet, in that there are countless fixes for TSL but none for the first game which is all I'm currently interested in playing. Basically this crash doesn't sound unique at all; Windows 7, Dual Core, 64 bit, mid-range graphics card and sound card. Yeah it's a recipe for disaster. But from what I can tell the way the game crashes isn't affected by any of these factors - or at least not in the same way that it is for others who i've read the pleas of. First of all, I created a character, and it crashed at the pre-endar-spire loading screen straight after character creation. I tried the affinity stuff, the compatability stuff, the administrator stuff, the patching stuff and then downloaded saves to see if it was just the endar spire. Well it crashes for the other saves too: and in each save the loading bar freezes at the exact same point so we aren't dealing with a random crash here, something is specifically wrong in one area. If it was a random crash I'd give up... but I'm sure you can all sympathise... I can't let it go knowing that there's just one thing that's going wrong. I understand this thread will probably get cancelled, and I'll get real frustrated as it took me a good five minutes to detail the problem, but I acknowledge that this is probably for another thread I just... Really really really wanna play the game I again. I've bought this game for both platforms altogether 5 separate times and had an awesome experience playing it on every occasion. I haven't played it for a couple of years now and, seeing as Bioware games are pretty much a thing of the past, I really just wanna revisit the good times on this game before I go back to college on monday. I'd really appreciate any help, thanks.
Q
Try using the game's configuration utility to post your system specs: Post your system specs Sometimes we're just not going to be able to help you if we don't know what kind of hardware you have on your machine. If you don't know what you have on your machine, then follow these steps below: If you're using Vista or Windows 7, go into your game folder, find "launcher.exe" and "swconfig.exe". For each file, right-click on it, select "properties", then "compatibility", check the box beside "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". Then check the box next to "Run this program administrator" and hit "OK". (EDIT by Q) Bring up the launcher menu for Kotor 1 or 2 (by running "launcher.exe"). Click on "Configure". Click the "Scan Hardware" button on the lower center of the window. Click "Yes" to continue. Click "Details" to view your system specs. Click "Save Report" and save the file to your desktop. Whenever you post your problem, open the file you just saved and copy and paste the contents to your post. You can leave out the keymapping and everything after that.
