Darth Avlectus
Hey, hey, hey! By no means is this an exclusive group. I'd expect those of us who were American kids (possibly other nations' kids) in the '70s, '80s, and '90s to end up here. I know there are a few here who fit that age bracket I described. LOL (probably some mods). Hey, nobody is too old here unless you *want* to be old! Nobody is too young here, either. If you are too young to even know much, heck, don't be afraid. Wouldn't it be nice to see what you'd have grown up with if you were older? I guess to kick it off, the first major games I got to know were ones on the NES like super mario bros, metal gear, megaman, Castlevania, and other titles. Here's something: Anybody familiar with the little known secret about Super Mario 2 in America?
Boba Rhett
First off - I love, love, LOVE retro gaming. I especially like the artwork and logos of the companies and games. I'm even having the space invaders, Pacman ghosts, and 8-bit Mario sandblasted into my glass entertainment cabinet when I get the chance. I somehow pretty much completely skipped over the NES. I remember playing the Commodore 64, Amiga and the Atari 2600 a lot and then jumped directly to the SNES. I miss commodore 64s a lot. It was a simpler time. Perhaps a more civilized age. Is the secret in SMB2 the parallel world?
Darth Avlectus
WOW! You got an arcade going in your house??? SANDBLASTING??? Ohh I'm envious. Good for you, man. Yeah, I played the ATARI, hell, I even have a few parts and cartridges for it. I have a white DONKEY KONG cartridge from all the way back in 1981. That's older than ME. Never actually owned an Atari though. I saw some Amiga Commodore computer action in high school--we used it as a teleprompter lead in my TV class. Well, okay, jump to SNES. Not IN SMB2, OF SMB2. This should be a stumper for ya since you missed the NES era. Info's out there, but please, feel free to stress a few VG brain neurons.
