GeForce2 MX 400

I seem to remember someone asking whether 100 bucks was a good deal for a GeForce2 MX400 a week or so ago. Well, you can get it for about 15 bucks cheaper here. Also, for anyone else that has a crappy video card, you should check this out, cuz I bet this card would run JKO just fine and dandy. I think I'll be getting this card too for this comp, even though I'll probably be getting a new computer next year.

I won't bother upgrading anything until next year (maybe Spring time). I've got my sights on the new GeForce 3 Titanium 500, or maybe the ATI Radeon 8500 (if they can radically improve the drivers to get the best out of the card), but I intend to wait until the prices come down.

I'll make do with my GeForce 1 DDR until then.

I've seen it as low as 56$, the geforce2 MX isnt any faster then a Geforce I DDR so why bother with it,u could get a Geforce II PRO for 100$ or an ultra for 150$, none of the Geforce III series is worth the money right now, and by the time it is, they wont be fast enough. even JK II will not have any GEFORCE III specfic features to my knowledge, and the ULTRA is clearly faster and has more memory bandwidth then the Geforce III TI 500 even.

check this article out that will scope the performance of the GF II pro though GFIII TI 500. http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/01q4/011001/index.html

If money is no object, than wait a wee little bit until ATI releases it's Radeon 8500. Ooooh that baby looks good!

I don't know what's wrong with the MX cards. I have one, seams ok. It's a lot better than my previous video card, but 3D2001 benchmarked my performance at around 900~1000 points, which isn't all too great, but it could just be my CPU chip.

I have a GeForce2MX-400

Bought it for $70.00 OEM from PC Club...

There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with the MX...

I'll put it up against ANY of today's cards ANYTIME!!!

It must be your CPU Ice Man, 3D Mark 2001 gives me a repert of 2650 on my Duron 750...

:D :D

heh MX=lame anymore its a shame to c people couple a MX with a fairly powerful processor, basicly kills the reason to have that Cpu. and about whether the GPU is dependt on ure CPU, under clock ure processor less say ure usin a Pentium III, jus drop the bus down ta 66mhz, eg if u use a PIII with a multiplyer of 8 on a 133mhz bus

1ghz cpu at 66mhz its limted to 528mhz aka 533, benchmark ure vcard now in 3dmark 2000 or 2001, dont expect a high score. esp if u turn HnL off and USE SSE or SftTNL
