Im not quite sure how you justify your patronising attitude, but if you are basing it on your skill at SWGB then that is very sad indeed!

I do not like Death Match too much because you have all the resource you need to defeat your emeny... I like RM better because it is much longer and stragey based, like Leon said.

Sometimes I mis that taunt from AoK that said "You play two hours to like this?".

There's nothing like a 2 hour game where you build everything from the ground slowly and really become one with your base. Carefull weigh on how you're gonna use you're recources (altough sometimes after you had a big battle and you realize you have enough recources again to make a big army again in no-time ... if you have enough buildings and the techs for it)

RM is thé game. If I want it quick, I play Regice (terminate the commander) wich still can take long.

But that's because I think AoE games are more economic games than action games.

There is an option where you just race to build a monument and there is no combat. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds appealing. Resource management, building, and so on, are the best part of the game. I do like the combat, but only after I have had a lot of building. If everyone hangs in till late in Age 4, then at the end of the game, whoever was best at all the non-combat stuff will ultimately win (strategy particulars aside), because he'll have the most developed units, the most resources from the souped up workers, and the best prepared forces. There's nothing more satisfying than winning because you out-developed the other guy over the long term.

Sigh.. this thread is becoming disappointing. First to clear somethings up myself, I play rm and dm. But on the zone, I am mainly a dmer and Nexsis is a mainly a dm clan which plays rm here and there to spice things up a bit.

But the more I read on WHY you guys like rm better than dm, the more I realize you guys really dont know what dm is like or how it is played.

DM isnt a game that is over in 5 mins unless you pit an expert against a newbie who cant handle a rush. But then again, same could be said about that in rm with an early trooper rush and the newbie rmer cant handle it and scurries all his workers in his command center only for more and more troopers to arrive and pin him down and finish him off.

A good DM game will last over an hour with non stop battles. For people to think that you do not resource in dm, well, that just shows that those people that think that have no clue about dm. You HAVE to resource majorly! You resource more in dm than you do in rm and thats a fact. You have to que up literally around a 100 workers (200 pop game) and send them off. Now think about that. Instead of rm where you make one worker at a time, in DM, you literally have around 100 workers in about 14 to 20 mins flat. Now think about all the resources being maintained during that time in a DM game.

And yes, DMers HAVE to resource. Here is a perfect example why. In a DM game post tech 4, if you que up 2 mech buildings full of AT-ATs.. guess what? You are out of nova in the first 3 mins of the game. So you have to resource big time.

As for rm being patient, yeah, that could be true. But sometimes in DM, that is true as well. Usually a big battle will happen about 6 mins into the game and then sometimes, both sides will start building up forces to counter the other and sometimes, you have time to fortify up depending upon how aggressive your opponent is.

All in all, I like RM and DM. But to hear one person say that DM is better or that RM is better than the other is sickening. It all relies on what that player's gaming style is. One is not better than the other. You dont know how many times I am on the zone and see these little 12 year old kiddes saying "DM is gay!". You just want to pick up these pointy headed freaks and stick them in a pencil sharpner. I can gaurentee you that 9 out of 10 people that say that either 1) never played a dm game in their life 2) They just outright stink at it 3) They just cant handle the pressure of massive attacks and a great rush.
