LoRD KoZ Posted December 15, 2001 Posted December 15, 2001 Well, i don´t have the game yet. (and i don´t speak english very well). But im close to buy it. And i have to do a question: Does every unit in the game (oviously not the unique) have a totaly equal match. What i mean is (for example): "At-At´s, are exactly like a gungan unit in power and life etc.?" or they have diferences? (im sorry for my gramatiK)
Heavyarms Posted December 15, 2001 Posted December 15, 2001 what is your native language? I can probably say something in it... yes, every unit has a counter.
Guest jubjubjub Posted December 15, 2001 Posted December 15, 2001 The basic units are the same for all civilizations, but can differ slightly due to the different upgrades available to a particular civilization. All civilizations have assault mechs (AT-AT's) that are identical in hit points and attack (before upgrades). They all have different artwork, but are functionally the same. Same for troopers, strike mechs, mech destroyers, etc. However, sometimes the upgrades (like upgrade to repeater trooper) make a big difference and not all civs get all upgrades. Each civilization has a unique unit that is totally distinct from the other civilizations to give the game more variety. The upgrades are so significant, that some people won't even play a unit for one civilization. Shields for aircraft comes to mind. Those with shields use aircraft and those that don't get the upgrade rarely use them. So, yes, unlike Starcraft, the basic units are all the same, but unlike AOK it doesn't seem that way because they have unique artwork. The upgrades are not universally available and make a big difference as to what units one would play with a given civilization.
CaptainRAVE Posted December 15, 2001 Posted December 15, 2001 I also am close to buying the game. Many times I've seen Starcraft refered to....how come??
Gaming Nut Posted December 15, 2001 Posted December 15, 2001 Because it was and still is one of the most popular games on earth even now their are dozen of people on at anytime of the day in Asia they built stadiums yes stadiums for torment of SC.
Guest Dr. Evil Posted December 15, 2001 Posted December 15, 2001 I think yes je pense qu´oui yo creo que si
LoRD KoZ Posted December 17, 2001 Author Posted December 17, 2001 Thank you for that info. Well, my language is Spanish. Im from Argentina. I like to know if the upgrades are REALLY important. I also want to know this: Im not a BIG fan of SW, but likes me a lot. I like AoK too (very much), but i dont really know if this game whort my money. Its more than just skins?, please answer that to me. (je,je, i need to buy a diccionary)
No hay unidad invencible My Spainish isn't too great..
Guest jubjubjub Posted December 17, 2001 Posted December 17, 2001 If you like Starcraft and AOK, you should like this game. It is in some ways a combination of the two. Jedi Masters are a combination of monks (conversion) and dark templar (invisible, strong melee attack). Only the naboo, rebels and empire get the invisible upgrade. Air is similar to Starcraft, but ground units can't attack both ground AND air, like marines or hydralisks can. The naboo, rebels and wookies can get shields (like Protoss) for their air units, which makes a huge difference. Shields recharge much faster here than in Starcraft. Because melee units can't attack air, you can't just go around the map with paladins like you can in AOK. Turrets are also differentiated between air and ground, like the Zerg spore and creep colonies. The unique units are very important, and powerful. Much more difference here than in AOK. Unlike Starcraft, if you convert an enemy worker, you can't get access to their technologies. There is a demo available so you can try it out, although most of the upgrades are tech level 4 (imperial age) and the demo only goes to tech level 3 (castle age).
duder Posted December 17, 2001 Posted December 17, 2001 be warned though, the demo does not do the full game justice.
LoRD KoZ Posted December 17, 2001 Author Posted December 17, 2001 i think this game gonna like me (Se dice asi?) but im not totally shore (seguro) of that. Is BEST than AoK, or is just a SW version of AoK? I buy it anyway, but i cant right now. ThanKs again for all the info, i thinK this forum rules.
Guest Stan|SCN Punk Posted December 17, 2001 Posted December 17, 2001 Well, technically everything has a counter, but sometimes it gets blurry. For example, the "Mech Destroyer" unit is supposed to be a mech-counter, but it IS a mech itself. So, it has an attack bonus on its own kind (or not have a bonus against its own kind, making it invulnerable except to air attacks).
