DarkEra Posted December 18, 2001 Posted December 18, 2001 The subject pretty much says it all. With rampant cheating in games such as CS, we need built in anti-cheating software which will be constantly updated to get rid of cheaters. DAMN THOSE CHEATERS! -DarkEra
digl Posted December 18, 2001 Posted December 18, 2001 I think the pure server option that the Q3 engine has prevents all kind of cheating, but I dont know what downfalls It could have
Frosty_V2.1 Posted December 18, 2001 Posted December 18, 2001 I think digl's right about the QIII engine, someone mentioned the idesa of if u find a hack etc... u could send it to Raven and they would continously 'block' these cheats thorugh periodic updates, that woiuld be great and a great way to support the community when the game is released.
Lucky Posted December 19, 2001 Posted December 19, 2001 That was my idea! =P I really think it would give the kids who like to edit the game just to see what they can slip under the radar somthin to do that would be productive and benefit the community. When they find a loophole they can submit it and get it fixed. Admins will have to point this thread out to the Raven folks, I think it would be a great PR move. Lucky
Emon1 Posted December 19, 2001 Posted December 19, 2001 Q3A has very, VERY good anti-cheat. I've been in lots of Q3 and RtCW games (I'd play UT more, but the netcode is suxbad for 56k), and I have NEVER seen one cheater before.
SlowbieOne Posted December 19, 2001 Posted December 19, 2001 That's good to hear Emon. I never played a Quake 3 engine game online, so I was wondering about that. JK community is pretty bad hack-wise.
digl Posted December 19, 2001 Posted December 19, 2001 I think your idea is good Lucky, but as emon says the Q3 engine is very good in that aspect, so we probably wont need what you said
CaptainRAVE Posted December 19, 2001 Posted December 19, 2001 Id rather they concentrated on building a decent multiplayer environment. As long as they give us the power to kick cheaters i dont mind
madrebel Posted December 19, 2001 Posted December 19, 2001 there was an aim bot awhile back that could beat the pure server. not sure if its still around though.
digl Posted December 19, 2001 Posted December 19, 2001 If that is true then Lucky`s idea could be applied
Agen Posted December 19, 2001 Posted December 19, 2001 Yeh but i think they released an update that backed-up the server so it coudn't beat it.
Frosty_V2.1 Posted December 20, 2001 Posted December 20, 2001 There's always a way..... Great idea Lucky , although, it'll take time before someone figures something out, come to think of it I've never even heard of a cheater in my area.
