Well.

If anyone is totally new to Battlegrounds and finding it hard to play, win a game. Post here.

By choosing the Age Of Empires game engine, means that there's TOO many experts out there who love to crush new players. Its a subject covered before but I am seeing more of this on the zone lately.

New players being rushed at all tech levels and lots of other stuff meaning that this game is becoming a rapidly UNPLAYABLE game online for those who experience this.

Having not played AOK fully, I have finding this across the zone - when 'experts' pretend to be new and they just wipe the floor.

Post your experiences here

well, i am too good to play in newbie games, intermediate games are usaully full, and expert games are full of ego maniacs that call anyone and everyone a newbie no matter what. So i normally choose to play newbie game do to the fact that they are more fun to play with than experts and it usaully the only games that are able to get in and play. But in playing this newbie games i also in counter people that are same or alot better than i am. maybe they doing they same as me or maybe they just enjoy a free win to boost their ego.

Believe it or not, it is usually better to practice against the computer before you jump online and *then* try to figure out how to get to TL 2. A little practice vs computers will allow you to hold your own in newbie games - and from there you can only get better.

As for experts smurfing (pretending to be newbs) - that happens in every RTS game - even now, in AoK.

Playing against the computer until you can beat it at least semi-reliably on moderate level sounds like a good way to go.

Another way is to find a few newbies that you know, for a fact, are newbies (people you trust, not just random guys in some internet chat room that claim to be newbies), and play with them. People will definitely play differently (and bettter, usually) from the way the computer plays, so even if you can crush the comp all the time on hardest does not guarantee you will always do well against a human. It will guarantee you won't be a total pushover though ;)

I haven't played MP for just this reason -- I am trying to gather a group of people I know from elsewhere, who I trust not to go around pounding me in 5 minutes just to win... but rather want to play a game for the fun of the game. Not everyone is like that, so you have to pick your team mates and enemies carefully.

The zone is definately imbalanced. I played AoK and rate myself as a strong inter. Yet I find I play expert games to find im playing a load of rookies. It will eventually balance out.

From the games I've played with you Darthmauluk, you are getting pretty good, just a little too defensive. ;)

As for playing the comp, that is a good idea if you are an absolute newbie, but otherwise I think online is the way to go.

You are right duder.

It just getting the balance right and what with work and the website, I don't have much time to play :-((

So, improving will be a slow process! I do enjoy some of the games I have played - win or lose but I am just concered for those who are new and might lose interest if they continue to get a beating from the experts dress in newbies clothes!
