Obi Kwan
I was reading CNN this morning and ran accross this story: Here. Apparently, a plaque that was supposed to be recognizing James Earl Jones in celebration of MLK jr's B'day was mislabled with the name of James Earl Ray who assassinated Mr. King back in the day. I couldnt believe it when i first heard it, and the company that produced it said it was an accident.....bhah!
Scav
:grimace: That's not gonna look good on their name.. What if some guy named Osma Lin Cadden buys a plaque saying Osama bin Laden? Yikes!
Wacky_Baccy
Disgusting. Despite what they say, I think it highly unlikely that this was a genuine mistake. IMO, if whoever changed it did so deliberately, they should be fired immediately with no recompense whatsoever.

Poopypants
Yes it IS funny. I think it's hysterical. Folks, it aint racism or whatever that makes us laugh, it's that some bonehead was either dumb enough not to realize or stupid enough not to care--what it presents us with regardless--is irony. Irony is funny, whether it be verbal, situational, character, or dramatic. My guess is someone was thinking about what they were doing without thinking about what they were doing. You can't tell me you haven't been in the middle of typing a paper and yelled something to your roommate or mom or something and not looked down to find that's what you typed. The company said it's a mistake, no biggy. What's hilarious is that nobody caught it before they shipped it. But the recipients did, and the ceremony's not till saturday, so it needn't even have been turned into the publicity stunt it's become. Laugh at it. If you let it stir your emotions, you're being worthlessly manipulated by the media. If someone DID do it on purpose, they took a FAT risk, and they're a moron. In that case, we have the opportunity to laugh AT them rather than WITH them. Either way, laugh. It's healthy. --The Mighty Pants. PS: How great would it be if we all showed up at a KKK rally and did just that? Laughed at them? They'd probably pout their bottom lips into getting stuck in that hole in their goofy hoods. Tay-Mar
Heaven forbid that sarcasm becomes common place in the States............. This may seem funny to some but to others it's nothing short of treason. Whatever the history books say MLK did some good things, things that shouldn't be forgotten or made light of. Omne
To their credit...think about this. It is MLK day. James Earl Ray shot him, so his name is all over the place. James Earl Jones is very close to James Earl Ray...I'm sure everyone here has messed up someone's name in a similar fashion. It just so happens that this was with the murderer of a great civil right's leader.
