3 headd monkey
Ok guys, you all are gonna hate me for this, but I feel I must express my opinion. Living in developed countries and all, you guys can get all the good things out of life. I don't think you get much piracy in those parts of the world. You can pay for a computer game and feel happy about it. However, life doesn't work like that. In other parts of the world, (ya the 3rd world), piracy is MAINSTREAM. Everywhere you go you can find only pirated CDs and there is loads of that. No one is selling original stuff. Even, if you do find someone selling the original thing (which is highly unlikely), he is going to be selling it for an out-of-this-world price. Like a pirated CD would cost something like 50-100 units of currency, and the real one would be something between 1000-1200 units of currency (maybe more). I ask you all, WHERE IS THE JUSTICE??? Ok, so we assume that the person still buys the original CD. Well, I can tell you one thing, he isn't gonna be happy about it, knowing he could have just as well have paid 50 times less for the same thing. As a matter of fact, he will be called a fool by all those who know him. So why go through the trouble and humiliation. This doesn't mean that I'm for piracy. I hate it. It's ruining the economy. But you just can't blame the person for buying pirated stuff. You gotta blame the people who're doing piracy, i.e. making illegal copies. I mean these guys have created an atmosphere where the buyer has no choice but to buy the pirated software. However, if someone living in the developed world does piracy, then he is to blame, because he chose to do piracy. In the developing world, the people don't have much of a choice. Don't feel enraged, just wanted to tell you all what happens in the other parts of the world. However, now that I have mentioned so much, I would also like to mention that the people selling pirated stuff, are like the buyers. Both of them have no choice. It is very difficult to get jobs (because of bribery, prejudice, malice, what not) and this business is relatively easier. I think that piracy is a much more complicated business than just 'hating people who own pirated copies of MI'. It is a deep-rooted economic evil, which must be cut from the root, in order to get rid of it.

Hmm... some excellent points there, next time i'll think twice before dissin' people who buy pirate games, sometime's there's no other way. but for the people in developed countries i think theres no excuse except for money shortage and maybe some other small reasons. but then comes that old question of "if there's a speed limit, why are the cars able to go faster", meaning, why allow people to copy games, (ie sell CD Writers and such) if they're not allowed to? ah, it's a crazy mixed up world we live in. don't even get me started on 3rd world Debt.
