Just want to commend you on your co-op mod for JK2. Co-op MP is my favorite kind of multiplayer, and I was disappointed when it was announced that JK2 won't have co-op mode. I am VERY much looking forward to your co-op mod, even more than the MP that will ship with JK2. Good luck and I hope this isn't a project that fizzles out!!!

Love coop. Had all my best experiences multiplayer wise with it. Doom, Duke, System Shock2, Deus Ex, Half-Life, all infinitely more tasty with some buddies.

 

Deathmatch is alright for the "LOOK AT ME, LOOK HOW GOD-DAMNED GOO I AM" factor, CTF, is great with the right teams - same goes for these new fangled objective based games. But ****, for some reason Coop dumps on all of them from on high as far as I'm concerned.

Your mod has changed my mind about purchasing this game. There's nothing like sharing a great storyline and plot with friends. Thanks for your upcoming co-op mod. BTW, any ETA on this? How long after the release date will you be releasing the mod?

I can't speak for our coder, but along his estimates, if the icarus2 scripting code isn't that different from icarus, then it wouldn't take that long. The testing will be the hardest part. ETA depends on 3 things. 1. The day the SDK is released 2. The time it takes to understand the icarus2 3. The difference of the jk2 mp code and the EF mp code.

It's nice that the engines are so similar so you guys can "work ahead" before the actual game's release. Kudos.. and I wish you luck.

 

I'd very much like to play some quality coop as well... (and not just respawning enemies in a deathmatch map). ; )

Everyone will download it. I can do without the MP that ships with JK2, but give me the co-op!!!

 

UniKorn and Kumba:

I'm amazed that a good portion of the coding is already done, and glad to hear that this project hasn't fallen through the cracks. It would be a real shame if it did. Please don't let this mod die...please finish it (the sooner the better, of course :) , but just as long as it gets completed!). I would offer my help, but I know absolutely nothing about the Quake engine, Icarus, etc., and I don't have time to learn. If I did, I would do whatever I could to help you guys to make sure this mod is the best it can be and that it is released as soon as possible.

 

 

Lastly, I completely agree with mhasteley. Co-op is by far the best MP experience, at least for me. I get tired and bored of everyone trying to "prove" how good or l337 they are. I converted a couple of the original JK missions to co-op, and playing those with my friends is the best. Look forward to playing some co-op with you guys when this mod is released!

That's interesting, although I liked co-operative play in JK, because that was real-world style. You could kill your buddies just like the enemy. You didn't need a mod for that, just a map with AI. I may eventually write one of those if I get so bored that I finish all the other realism maps I've got lined up ;)

Take your time and do it right the first time, don't feel like you have to rush to get it done, then have it buggy as a cockroach hotel (like the MoH:AA one was)

 

take you time! if it takes 3 months, release it in 4 (an extra month of testing helps)
