tomshardware is where i read it... lemmie browse around and see if i can find the article... here we go...

Still, none of the GeForce4 MX cards has full DirectX 8.x support, because of its lack of vertex and pixel shaders. This weighs heavily when you remember the lowest priced offering out of the GeForce4 Ti bunch of cards. It's only $20 more than GeForce4 MX460.

I would recomend against an mx chip. They are good for the money you pay, but they are kind of like buying a celeron instead of a p3. All the mx chips only have 2 rendering pipelines instead of 4 like the normal geforce 2/3. So right there you cut your preformance in half. If you want a good card that will run the game for a good price, buy an mx. If you love games and play them often, than treat yourself and go with a geforce3 ti. At higher resolutions you'll find the mx's just don't deliver the fps as well.

GF 3 Ti is one third of the price of a GF 4 Ti. So it depends on the amount of money you want to spend. Also, how fast is your CPU, it might limit the GF 4, so you don't even notice a speed increase over a GF 3.
