Terrin
THe upcoming MMO based in the Highlander Universe being developed by Kalisto has finally gotten a name: Highlander: The Gathering The company has been extremely secretive about the project and little is known. What is known is this: - The game is based in the Highlander Universe - It will be a MMOG - It will most likely consist of liberating fellow players of their heads You can see a small newsbit of this at PC.IGN.COM also, the official web addy is: HighlanderTheGathering.com

RoyalGuard
Great! If it is released sometime soon (next year) I won't have to do a total conversion of JKO to satisfy my quickening addiction!
Terrin
Terrible news! I just found out, that Kalisto, the company developing the game, almost went bankrupt. They actually did apply for bankrupcy but somehow they are now protected under some law and will be so for 6 months. This means that unless they can get a developer to buy them out or find support somehow, they will close their doors! This is terrible news!! I'm very pessimistic now that I've heard about this. Infrogrames has said that they wouldn't buy them up due to their own internal problems and Ubisoft hasn't said anything about the situation either. Terrible, terrible news... I wanted a highlander game so bad. What is a little strange however is that just a few days ago (Feb 28th) they released a really cool video of the avatar creation process. There were a LOT of details and customization options, and the models were highly detailed. I found the video and computer and video games. It is a 20 megs (the small version) MPEG. Dear oh dear... it's looking less and less like this game will be out
Guest Krayt Tion
MMORPG development is a fairly risky business. I would even go as far to say that the proportional percentage of mmorpg titles that end up nothing but vaporware in their respective genre is much higher than canceled games in other PC gaming genres. I attribute this to the amount of titles in the MMORPG genre that have never seen the light of day, compared to the small number that have actually hit the shelves or are available for download to paying customers. RoyalGuard
Curses! Ah well, there may yet be hope for a highlander game. It will only be a FPD (first person dueler) but our team (who remains anonymous for copyright reasons) will either totally convert a game or build it from a freeware engine. Just give us a year. *relearns Visual C++* sigh
