MadScientist
I was watching the UK video just now and I think I may have an explanation for what happened to that stormtrooper at about 1:00. It appears that somthing (looks like a tripod turret of some sort) is also firing on him now I know it doesn't really look like it ever hits him but I was wondering if a few hits might not have regestered. There are two reasons for this: First, I think I can see the stormtrooper start to fall before he was thrown back. Second, Every other saber death looks much better. They do fly back a bit but not like they were hit by a speeding school bus. On the other hand I could be wrong, earlier in the film it also shows yet another ST being shot in the side then fallying forward. Perhaps Raven simply hadn't matched up it's (beta) death animations with the weapons (I can see a thermal detonator doing what the saber did there) or perhaps it really will be like this in the game. Wacky_Baccy
Firstly - Welcome to the forums, MadScientist - make yourself at home, and enjoy your stay here Now to business... I'd never noticed that 'tripod' before (no idea why) but now I've seen and payed attention to it, I know how the Assualt Sentry will behave - thanks for pointing it out
StormHammer
Welcome to the forums, MadScientist. Hope you're enjoying your stay. Here... *hands over a chocolate Jedi Medallion*. There you go. As for the flying Stormtrooper...no, he's not hit by the blasts from the Sentry gun...but I just noticed something else, by stepping through the video frame by frame... Kyle's saber hit's the Stormie's blaster rifle...and the gun explodes... That might explain the reason why he is cast back so far... How did I not notice this before?!? I'm pretty sure this is what happens...because I don't see the blast rifle being dropped or flying through the air. There is definitely an explosion close to the Stormie's midriff...right where he was holding the blaster rifle...
Durendal
Every other saber death looks much better. Not really, just look at the Official Trailer (e.g :31 and :52) they fly back just as far and it looks silly... But then again didn't they say it was a early build and wouldn't happen in the game? digl
welcome to the forums MadScientist that it wouldn't happen in the SP game, we don't know about MP yet. And stormhammer, If the explosion had that incredible amount of power why didn't Kyle fly back? It was the batsaber knockback, ChangKhan said it
StormHammer
Originally posted by digl And stormhammer, If the explosion had that incredible amount of power why didn't Kyle fly back? It was the batsaber knockback, ChangKhan said it Well, you could argue that Kyle is a Jedi and used the Force to absorb or deflect the blast away from him. I do, however, think that the Stormie flew back too far, even under those cirumstances. Perhaps it was a combination of the explosion and the BatSaber - although to be honest, I've looked really carefully at that section of footage, and apart from striking the Stormie's weapon, I don't think it actually makes contact with the Stormie after that. I think it just goes into a deflect position slightly above Kyle's head... I'm not saying the BatSaber effect doesn't exist. It clearly does (or did), throughout the footage we have seen. I am simply saying the exploding weapon was probably a contributing factor to why that particular Stormtrooper flew back so far. And I, for one, want the exploding weapon effect to remain. digl
Interesting perhaps you are right about the explosion amplifying the effect I'll check frame by frame edit - The rifle does explode, and that looks cool, not like the knockback Howeever Kyle keeps walking as if nothing had happened, without his trajectory being changed at all by the explosion and without using force powers, so he seems to be inmune to the explosion
