Need Help in Choosing new Video Card

I upgraded my TNT 2 ultra to a geforce 3 Ti200, you can get them at quite a decent price. You could pick up a GF4 MX but it doesn't have some of the bells and whistles of a GF3 and is more akin to a GF2. The best cards out are the GF4 Ti and the Radeon 8500 but as you say they're both hella expensive.

If you're looking for a cheap, good card that will last a while, get a GeForce 3 Ti200 or a Radeon 8500.

The GeForce 3 Ti200 can easily be overclocked to Ti500 speeds, if you're into that. I don't have any experience with the Radeon card, but I'm sure someone will tell you about that. Or you could check out one of the many threads on this subject.

Alternatively, you can wait a little and buy a GeForce 4 Ti4200, which sounds like a great deal, and cheaper than Ti4400 and Ti4600.

Get a Gainward Geforce 3 Ti 200, its one of the few Geforce 3's with 128mb of ram and it has a good cooling system + its cheap 178$ last i saw it. Also i would reccomend staying away From Geforce2 tech and less cards... that includes the new Geforce 4mx models as those are geforce 2's in disguese Pixel shaders are actualty starting to be implmented into games and older cards like the geforce2, radeon,voodoo5 blah blah lack it, infact a few games alrdy make use of it, check out Command and conquer renegades, if u have a geforce 3 or radeon 8500 u should see that 3dobjects can cast shadows onto other 3dobjects.... eg drive a tank under a tree and u can see the tree cast the shadow on the tank and the ground, its a trivial use of it but its still a use of it......
