bliv
I've recently encountered a problem with my system that could destroy my hopes of playing JKII. When I run any game the sound locks up as soon as play starts. The game attempts to make use of the sound but it constantly changes sound then locks up. This occurs with Jedi Knight, MOTS and other games. However, when I can use Quake 3, Medal of Honor and Wolfenstein. Since JKII is using the Quake 3 engine I should be able to run it without the sound problem right? Does anyone have any idea what my problem is here? My only guess is it is something to do with Direct X or Open GL.
The Seeker
Have you downloaded the latest drivers for your sound card?
bsbuckeye21
Does it have something to do with selecting either waveout or DirectSound? (I had to switch to DirectSound in quicktime once I upgraded to XP because I was getting nasty cracks and pops when using the QT player. And yes, I have the latest drivers. )
mstich00
Does your soundcard happen to be a Soundblaster Live ? Is it plugged into your first PCI slot ? If so, probably it's a conflict between your AGP and PCI slot. Try to move the soundcard to a different PCI slot. If your card is a Soundblaster Live you could also try to install the PCI latency patch. Do a search on Google for more info, as I can't remeber the link. Hope I could help. If not sorry to waste your time. ciao MStich
