I've played a network game before..

All you need to do is install the game on both comps with the installation CD..then you have one computer running off of the installation cd and the other with the game CD...

Jordus doesn't get banned for calling Rommel a nerd, although that is one of the flames / insults that add to the pile he has in his short posting-history.

Add to that promotion of illegal activities (copying the game) AFTER he was warned and a plain continuation of his previous behavior, and you have what we have now.

Let me say this again (since the situation with Delphi apparently hsa sunk away from memory after only 35 minutes): we implement the forum guidelines, which are pretty standard for ANY (read that again, please: A N Y) forum on the internet.

If you simply don't care and start flaming, insulting etc anyway, don't whine when you get banned. I keep explaining this, when all the while it's too crazy for words that i even have to explain it !!

Long time reader, first time poster.

With one CD, you can play the game on 3 computers. I've done this a few times already. Adding a 4th computer on your LAN game requires a 2nd CD. Simple as that.

As a sidenote - I don't understand the extreme strictness of this forum and it's moderators. A majority of those posting to a forum dedicated to computer games and Star Wars are nerds and geeks. I'm a geek, I confess - my job is computers, my house has 4 computers, I own numerous games. What's the deal with calling someone a nerd? Most of us tend to be of higher intellect and geeker than most, accept your nerdiness and embrace it.

Regarding burning cds - I commend the moderators for trying to be honest, true, and avoiding software piracy within these forums, but really, look at reality. Who owning 4 computers like myself is going to buy 2 copies of the game? No one - I don't burn a copy of AoE or AoE II to give my friends and distribute, I copy it so that I can play it with friends on my home LAN. What's wrong with that.

Whatever he did in the past by flaming or whatever, I don't know, but saying nerd or burn the cd so that you can play on your home network shouldn't be enough to ban somebody. Besides, I doubt with a direct burned copy of the game you could play the single player missions.

We'll see if my message containing the words "nerd" and "burning CD" will get me banned too.

haha.

Did you even READ my post ?!?!? Goodness, people. How come 786 people don't have a single problem with this and a select few seem to think that simply because they think different, these boards should adapt to their will ?

These are simply, generic board-rules. They apply to almost ANY board on the internet. We're not in the least 'more strict' than others. Most likely, the other boards simply don't get moderated often enough to filter these kinds of things out.

This isn't about 'geeks' or 'nerds'. That post was simply the proverbial step too far after warnings given.

Why not read the forum policies and then think it over ?
