SpacemanSpiff
for the servers i play on, i can hold my own in saber combat most times, but sometimes i just get my @zz handed to me (spiked thru a saber of course). i've tried, unsuccessfully, to "chain" different moves and different styles (ex: heavy style first strike followed by fast style spins). when you switch styles, there is a delay that makes it almost impossible for fluid saber combat, unless you stick to one style only, all the time. i've seen all kinds of saber fighting on different servers. some like to stay crouched, others are jumping beans. everybody seems to have their own way of things, for better or worse. i (and lots of others) could use some good combo's/advice for saber combat. if yer willing to share yer tactics, we're all ears (eyes). Torquemada
I try to watch for what stance my opponent is using, and then I try to talior my style to them. Not that I have a fool proof style for anything yet, but I have learned a few things It has been my experience that most people will hold the attack button down and start to run around in circles CLOCKWISE. What I will try to do is first take a light stance and then try to sneak in COUNTER-CLOCKWISE. People will leave huge holes in there defense that way. Something else, if your fighting someone who is using a heavy stance try this. Take a med stance and wait for them to swing, as soon as you see them swing, push your attack button. If you time it right, your swing should catch them just as there's ends. I have gotten many kills like that. Something else to think about is blocking saber attacks. You might be surprised how much you can block by just facing your opponent. I generally play defensive until I see an opening and then I go for a strike. As for "combo's" in the console game sense, I haven't found any, I do like to roll behind someone and backstab, although it almost never works because of the lag between rolling and swinging. Anyone else have anything to add?
Guardian Omega
Ah another tip against those button holders (the ones that keep swinging) is to keep saber-throwing them. It works most of the time too!
Soul-Burn
Button holders - people that don't understand that Attack=0% Defence.. Maybe not 0%, but hardly any. These people will eventually learn and making tactics against them it, well... a bit useless, since they are easy targets... it's a not big deal if u can take down 5 buttons holders, while u can't even take one smart player. ChronoWarrior
I find that being fast helps. Move in for quick medium or fast strikes then back out and watch opponent. The whole goal is to see when he makes his mistake, when that happens move in and slice him. Saber throws work good too. But, I find that if your fast enough you'll win. obidunlap
Is there a certain combination of buttons that need to be pushed to do a 360 degree spinnging attack. I have done it before but I do not have a clue to what I did.
CheshireKat
Here's some Darkside Med Stance Combos I use: 1.Drain/Grip/Kick 2.Drain/Grip/Push 3.Drain/Grip/Overhead Attack Downward* 4.Drain/Grip/Jump/Drag opponent over your head/Land and Slash above. These are a bit more respected ways to use Drain Grip, and you'll get a few Hoots for some of these. Usefullness: 1. Fair 2. Very/ Just push them into a corner. 3. Deadly, but risky 4. Very/ once you place them over your head they're doomed to fall right on top of you. Just time it. Mix these up and don't abuse them and you'll have people asking you how you did it all day long. Especially No. 3. *if you get in the stun animation try pushing you're opponent if they are out of reach. Also I've found a way out of the stun animation, but I'm not sure of the correct combo of buttons. Think you quickly press (with opponent directly infront of you) Fwd+Jmp+Attack followed quickly by Lft+Attack or Rt+Attack. Good Luck:fett:
BrainStorm
I like to use a good force shove to those who stay with the strong style. I never thought of the reverse spin attack. I will have to try it tomorrow.
StormHammer
Well, unfortunately due to high ping (I'm on a 56k with issues), I've limited myself to FFA matches. That I can play at all on some servers is nothing short of miraculous, anyway...but I digress... When I have got into a lightsaber battle, I have to use a lot of jumps and dodges, simply because the timing necessary for a proper duel is shot to hell due to lag. It is very difficult for me to go one on one and have a proper duel because I'm usually dead before I even see my opponent move. I'd love to have a proper duel...but when you have a ping between 500-999 (with the associated lag), it's a bit difficult. I have managed to get a few lightsaber kills...even had a decent duel for about a minute and a half against one opponent in a quiet area when the lag wasn't so bad...but that's the exception rather than the rule. Perhaps some of those with jumpy behaviour...or those who continually attack with the saber...are having a similar problem to me. It is hard to defend against an attack that has happened before you see it. The option is to go on the offensive, keep moving, jumping, rolling or flipping to keep your distance when necessary, and then put in some combination moves using your best judgement of where you think the other player is going to be - not necessarily where they are. Of course...that doesn't really apply if everyone has around the same ping, and very little lag.
