Currently as of this moment, I have applied for space at JK2.net for hosting a Jedi Academy site. Details will be told later if I am acepted. I just wanted to have a general count of how many people would like to have a personal saber trainer, or a teacher for them. Just say Yes or I if you would be willing to train in a personal lesson or in a group lesson.

I need a people count.

I like the idea for two reasons:

#1 It will help the new player who feels frustrated and in the long run create a bigger community.

#2 It will help players of similar skill meet each other online and could spawn into group practice sessions and games.. sorta like virtual networking I guess.

Let me in on the first training session..

I'll be glad to help you. I'm great with HTML, and I'm pretty sure you can get some CGI scripts to help you automate the process. I can also hook you up with a very good message board.

Send me an IM over AIM at iamdougp or you can pop me an email doug@geekmojo.org.

Ummm.

If you can get on the server....cause its busy all the time.

Blood Widows Jedi Academy has been open to the public since release day. And its an active 12 - 14 player server that runs daily.

Most of the time I've been able to get on, Blood Widow is teaching people. Usually on a one to one basis. And her students seem very happy with the results of spending a few hours with her. Which is understandable, since I've seen her turn wild swinging newbie saberists into competent 1 vs 1 duelists.

So this idea is already in progress. The need for a "website" is pretty secondary. You need a server, and people with the time and patience to teach.

I'm all for the idea of starting a Jedi Academy. I had an idea similar to this one for JK but I wasn't able to do it due to lack of time. If one comes out for JKII, consider me enrolled if the first class.

It would be extremely beneficial in many ways. I can't think of them right now, so I won't bother to list them. It would also help to weed out those who are interested in being punks and having fun at the expense of other's immersion into the Star Wars universe; which I don't know about you, but I at least play this game for.

I am presently trying to put together a mod team with the following mission, and I know there is a MOD subject, but I figure that this is also a good place to mention it, given that we are all here to get better at lightsaber combat.

At the time of Episode II, there are 7 different forms of lightsaber combat, all with their individual strengths and weaknesses. For instance, Form II is very elegant and flowy, and less effective against blaster fire, whereas Form III was based on Training Excercises built around blaster deflection!

Now, of course none of this can be worked on until the SDK is released, and it will be a MAMMOTH, I cannot overemphasise this enough, MAMMOTH project, probably requiring a dedicated staff working at least 12 hours a week on it for close to a year, but I think that when it is hashed out and completed, it will make JO something all Star Wars (not FPS) fans wanted it to be: the most immersive computer game yet made.

Anyway, like I said, more info will be in the MOD subject thread, I only really wanna gauge interest.

Seth

P.S. I would definitely love to be a student. Definitely.

Yes!

I think it's a very good idea. The sort of positive vibes alot of gaming communities are in desperate need of!

I'm useless a mostly everything :D , but i like to get a little training, and share what I know.
