I'm releasing a parallel Quake3Arena version of the map as well. Let me know what you think.

i've released other Q3Arena stuff. I started this before i even had JK2. now that i've played and gotten a feel for movement and spacial proportions, yes i'll likely create more maps for JK2 after this one.

Very nice indeed. I am impressed.

One thing I might say tho, is the sand texture on the ground kinda looks too much the same..it looks like tiles of the same pattern. If youc an alter the ground so it doesn't look like a pattern, that's perfect.

VERY VERY nice level. Can't wait for it.

i've done a lot of that already. keep in mind tatooine is pretty flad. when i first had that low area some die hard SW fans thought that had to go because tatooine (around skywalkers place anyway) has nothing like that.

the first version had signs and such. they were in aurabesh, but im not sure if thats the right language (im more of a star trek guy myself. don't kill me). so if anyone could answer that, thatd be great.

i also have som teaxture changes coming up, to add more variety and get rid of the blandness.

the ground textures are already gone.

im basing it off of the behind the scenes episode 1/2 tatooine shots, so im not likely to add anything that isnt shown in those. i want non-SW fanatics that dont know the whole universe background to not think stuff is out of place, even if it was in SW:Galaxy or some other medium other than film.

any more thoughts would be welcome. thanks for these so far.

Ahhh the memories... one a trip to Tunisia I visted the area that they filmed Starwars in... Lukes house is now a REALLY ****ty resaurant. If only R2D2 had been there...

Awsome map, when its done make sure is circulates. This is one I have to have.

wow. thanks guys. you just made my day.

r_speeds are surprisingly low. i repeat, low. FPS is average. r_speeds max at 8000.

all i need yet is some more detail work and then to compile it for JK2. looks for more shots shortly.

Evan,

Aurabesh is the most common language that's used in JK addons to date, but - strictly speaking - is an Imperial used language to the best of my knowledge.

As this is a Tatooine map, I would suggest using Trade Huttese with possibly a mix of Nal-Huttese too.

These fonts are available on the web and I will link to a site that has them when I find it again.

Just a thought.

Good looking map by the way. Would agree with other comments about varying some of the textures though.

i previously had signs in aurabesh (in a version i never posted on this forum). I just downloaded both Huttese fonts. i'll be using it from here on out.

is there any reason why 'historically' i should use trade over nal-huttese? trade huttese is my second choice, but should it be my first for any reason?

example: i have cargo boxes around the map. perhaps these would be in trade huttese since they are potentially off-wolrd items, where as signs on buildings would be in nal-huttese because they're more for the locals? this would be easier for me if the choices were ferengi and vulcan :/

Input would be appreciated. thx in advance.

Well, both Huttese are really both the same.

I am guessing this map is Mos Eisley? If so, it's a BIG smuggling place..

So either langauge works, but Tatooine is controlled by the Hutts, and Jabba is from Nal Hutta...

But, I have both of those fonts, and the Nal Huttese one doesn't look very good.

But, the other Hutt one looks too much like Japanese or Chinese...

So I'd go with Nal Huttese.

Looks way better.
