I'd love to have a portable DVD player... *sigh* I was looking at all the smilies and thought it would entertain myself to try to do the whole movie in smilies....

I'll... die... *gack!* Actually, we wait the EP1 dvd a considerably long time, but in the end was worth it. Look at the image and sound quality, the superb menu(s), and the (6 hours extra!) documentaries... Hope that the original trilogy dvds will be at least as good as that... perhaps even better!

Forhekset Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 Actually, you can get the original trilogy on DVD: http://videocds2000.com/dvd/dvdsc_032.htm However, these are VCD rips, which are better quality than VHS (and digital format, which is the most important thing) - but lower quality than DVD. I bought this set myself - it's better than nothing. They are obviously not official though - there are a few misspellings on some of the cover artwork, inexplicable 3D renderings of spaceships which never ever appear in any SW movie, and probably the most glaring mistake, the cover of the first DVD reads "THE NEW HOPE" rather than "A NEW HOPE". Oh yeah, and the back cover of the ESB DVD has pictures from ROTJ...for some reason. Edit: Also, contrary to the advertisement, they are NOT the special edition movies - they are the original versions.

acdcfanbill Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 supposedly he will release the original trilogy (special edition or not i dunno) on DVD after Eps 3 is complete... i dunno if he will wait for indy 4 also, or what... but the word is they are coming... he probably wants to wait til ILM has most of its resouces free to do something spectacler with the DVD's...
Pvt_Dancer Posted April 10, 2002 Author Posted April 10, 2002 Somebody had told me that Lucas didnt think that DVDs were going to be as big as they are (having seen how laser discs failed) so he wasn't planning on putting SW on DVD originally. He may be waiting to see if the trend really gets going... ?

The trend has been going for years now! Practically all me and my friends watch nowadays are DVDs, except for when we record off the tv. But for rentals or buyers its all DVDs. DVDs are getting bigger by the day and they are here to stay, atleast for any forseeable future in which Star Wars might be rerereleased (did I get the re:s right?)!
