MatrixCPA
The list of fixes seems rather....short. I expected to see a lot more. I'm hoping that they fixed a lot of things and just didn't document them in the readme. Would it be possible for someone from Raven Games to provide a bit more detail about the patch? On another note, according to the readme, v1.2 is going to utilize ~/.jk2 instead of ~/.jkii for logs. I know that several people have stats apps and other programs that are looking to ~/.jkii for their data. Why change something so minor at this stage? tubesock
Are these officially unsupported releases? Seems odd that they were uploaded 4/5/02 and are just now available? Weird... -Tube
MatrixCPA
I believe that they were being tested during that time. I'm going to test it out later tonight and see if they fixed anything other than the couple of crash bugs mentioned. I was hoping they would fix the g_disableForcePower bugs and a few other things. tubesock
Well, who knows what benefits are in this new version... That exploit is still there. Files are logged to .jkii, please don't change it in the future if possible, even though your documentation states otherwise... -Tube
MatrixCPA
Crikey, they didn't fix the crash exploit? I would have put that right at the top of the list of things to fix. *sigh* There's a server out there that says "crash me" in the name. I wonder if that one has the vulnerability. tubesock
The exploit can be stopped by using ipchains.. however, that would screw over legitimate users behind proxy's, using NAT, etc. -Tube
tubesock
I see a version 1.02b has been released... Will test exploit momentarily. -Tube
tubesock
*sigh* ... 1.02b get's FuQ3'd too... -Tube
MatrixCPA
And sadly, there's a LOT of people using NAT with the explosion of broadband. Just look at all the questions about putting servers up or even playing behind routers. I prefer fixes to workarounds any day of the week.
