Emon
I can find my friend's dedicated server via favorites, but not but just finding it on the master list (I have to add it manually). We thinks it's because he's not using a real setup, e.g. with a config file and such and isn't using the updated binary. Is that why?
MatrixCPA
He's probably running a listen server (+set dedicated 0) instead of an internet server (+set dedicated 2). Once you "add" a listen server to your favorites, you can continue to see it there. However, it won't show up in the master server list. Another possibility is that his server firewall is blocking the heartbeat from being sent to the master servers. Check that he's using +set dedicated 2 in his command line/startup file first. Then worry about possible firewall issues.

As long as sv_maxclients exceeds sv_privateClients, there will still be public slots and the server should show up on the master list. I personally have 4 private spots and 16 pubic ones.
